Oprah Winfrey's campaign swing last weekend with Democrat Barack Obama was greeted with record-breaking crowds and an equal amount of speculation over how much impact the media mogul might have on the White House race.

After all, Oprah has sent several books to the top of the bestseller list. Why couldn't that magic touch take a candidate to the top of the polls?

Obama has caught up to Hillary in the latest New Hampshire poll. Hillary lost her commanding lead.

http://www.wmur.com/politics/14826607/detail.html

If the Clinton's have dirt on Obama, they better use it soon. Her campaign is imploding faster than Howard Dean's.

Don't underestimate the power of Oprah.

Des Moines, IA (December 11, 2007) " The Biden for President Campaign announced the launch of its new television ad, "Action," which will begin airing across Iowa tomorrow. In the 30-second spot, Sen. Biden asks Iowans to cast their support for a candidate with proven leadership, experience, and most importantly, action on the biggest challenges facing our country.

The ad points out that while promises are easily made, Joe Biden is the candidate with the longest record of promises kept. The Biden Plan for Iraq has received the bipartisan support of over 75 U.S. Senators, not to mention scores of Iraqi leaders, foreign affairs experts, and other public officials. And when Pakistan erupted in a state of crisis several weeks ago, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf called Joe Biden first"not President Bush. Sen. Biden concludes: "You don"t have to guess what I"d do as president. Just look at what I"ve done."

"If Iowans believe campaign funds and celebrity will fix the debacle in Iraq, put the economy on track, and provide health care and education for America"s children, they should support another candidate," said Biden for President Campaign Manager Luis Navarro. "But I"m confident that Iowans know what I know: our problems will require experience and leadership from Day One. Empty slogans will be no match for proven action on caucus night."

You can see the new television ad at http://www.joebiden.com/action.

As an educator I can report that when I asked my students (all young adults) today who they thought would be the next POTUS they all answered Obama. As the future of this country is theirs I believe that young people will come out in droves to vote for him.

Why criticize Ms. Winfrey for endorsing the candidate of her choice? What the heck is wrong with that? She has that right. You all are doing the same thing, for cryin out loud! I applaud her and hope those with conviction do the same, any and all who are tired of the same old demographic running our country.

Who cares anymore what CNN or the Washington Post writers think? They are just a small step above Fox, which reports only propaganda from the White House. It is not journalism, it is propaganda. Why listen to any of them? Don't waste time reading the MSM. It is all lies and pulp. Except for Olbermann and Goodman.

Republicans want us to nominate Hillary because they think they can beat her, so watch out for that too. This is because she really stirs them up and she can rally the Rethuglicans to come out and vote AGAINST her. Really. A big reason for Dems to not vote for her.

HIllary is Washington establishment and we need a new vision.

Barack Obama is the same age that JFK and Bill Clinton were when they ran and were elected.

We are tired of the same old same old--Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton cycle.

I think Obama gives us hope that we can turn the Bush legacy around and reclaim America for the people.

What a breath of fresh air"what a marvelous change should the voters of the USA finally elect an African American as the leader of the free world. Imagine what it will do for America"s reputation in the international community (a reputation wrecked by King George over these seven long and miserable years), when we elect Barack Obama as the next POTUS.

Per Imus, Obama has missed 80% of his votes in the Senate since September 1, 2007. In 2006, in Obama's first 11 months in the Senate, Obama missed close to 37% of his votes as a novice Senator while he began his run for President.

During this same time, in August of 2007, Biden voted against the Lieberman-Kyle Amendment on Iran (Obama didn't vote); In August of 2007 Biden stated he would fight to impeach Bush/Cheney if they took any military action against Iran,(Obama has been silent on impeachment); in September of 2007 Bush/Cheney began to talk of WWIII in Iran - Biden continued to publicly challenge them, (Obama remains silent); in October of 2007 Biden put forth his Resolution in the Senate getting 75 votes from Republicans and Democrats to end the war in Iraq (Obama didn't vote); in October and November of 2007 Biden lead the Senate Democrats against confirmation of the Attorney General for failing to define waterboarding as torture, (Obama didn't vote); In October and November of 2007, Biden has been on the phone with the President of Pakistan, Isreal, Iraq, and talking to world leaders who have quit talking to President Bush (Obama has not been contacted by world leaders but cites his experience as a child in foreign policy); in December of 2007 Biden has repeatedly called for impeachment of Bush/Cheney for military plans to attack Iran and for a Special Indepedent Counsel to investigate and bring criminal indictments against wrong doers for the destruction of the CIA tapes (Obama has been silent before other more experienced members of Congress).

Biden does what Joe says. Biden's words and Biden's deeds are consistent. Obama says one thing, but does nothing. Obama speaks empty words, but doesn't act when given the opportunity to do what only 100 people in America are priviledged to do in the US Senate - vote.

Biden is in international news. World leaders want him to be President. Biden has earned a reputation of trust gained from 35 years of experience. www.joebiden.com

Americans are still picking the people we would rather have at our barbeque or Thanksgiving dinner for our president and then we wonder why our country is in a mess!

Did anyone see the Oprah-Obama rallys this weekend and the look on Michelle's face? What was that all about? She really looked angry on the stage for some reason.

So what? Obama is the first one to tell you that Oprah was bringing out the crowd, but it was left with him to close the deal. He never expected to be at the top of the polls after Oprah came out for him.

What is wrong with you people? Get a life. If Obama does not win this nomintion, it will not be the end of the world for him. He will move on. He never expected to be this far in the game in this campaign. But he has done superbly, even without Oprah.

Oprah never told anyone she would bring in votes. It was the press that hyped up this mess.

Who did the media talk to by the way.

No one knows the outcome of anything until the voters make their choice.

They've been touting this poll all day long over at MSNBC and here they quote it from CNN.

It's bullshit.

The question on the poll was: "Will Oprah's endorsement make it more likely you will vote for Obama?"

Since I have been supporting Obama since the day he announced, and I've never seen Oprah's show, my answer would obviously be, "NO."

So, someone, let's say a black person gets asked that question... well what do you think a black person is going to say to somebody asking that question? If it was me, I'd be thinking, "White people think we just do like sheep. Like we don't have minds of our own. Fuck that. So they say, "Hell no, Oprah doesn't tell me what to do," and hang up.

The other question was about Bill Clinton, and here's where the 44% who said Bill's endorsement makes it more likely they would vote for Hillary should scare the fuck out of Hillary.

That means 44% of voters polled would be less likely to vote for Hillary on her own. Doesn't this mean that Hillary is having a hard time persuading voters by herself? (the sixth grade essays weren't working, that's for sure.)

Obviously, when the Clinton's use EXPERIENCE as Hillary's unique qualification, they are hoping that you the voter will conflate Bill's experience with her's.

Like it's a "two fer" (the price of one)

Only, Bill isn't going to be running the White House, really, and if he does, how long do you think it will be before the conservative outrage at Hillary's "back door man" boils over into congressional hearings in a Republican congress. (yeah, that's right, this could spill over into the house and senate races, easy.)

Look at the source of the poll, and who's been spewing it all over the MSM all day. All of them are New York corporations and outlets. All of them have Hillary in their back pocket, and they're trying to collect on their investment.

The dynasty of Bush/Clinton IS THE PROBLEM.

THE SOLUTION is...

Obama in '08

Do any of you idiots even know any black people? Other than those women and men you seek out, using to somehow validate your sense of hip-diversity or communion or whatever else you empathically imagine the black experience to be? Let me tell you, black America is among the most conservative populations in the country. My boss, a black woman who I adore, and HER/OUR boss, a black woman I admire, and one of my employees, a black woman I love like a mom, all of these women (yes, all women) are among the most conservative people I know. All three women are southern and church attending. All three women detest the thought of gay marriage (yeah, we talk politics at work). All three women respect the military and the mission of protection it has. All three women have jobs they work hard to preserve for the betterment of their family and community. All three women resent the image "black culture" projects onto society. All three of these fine, impressive women support the death penalty for child-rapists and murderers. All three support gun rights for personal protection. And all three vote democrat. There is a definite disconnect between the African-American community when, as a demographic bloc, black people vote 90% democrat. Not even populations within dictatorships vote so monolithically. Saddam got 98% of the vote. Can a population be so single-minded? And if so, why? For the record, Dr. Martin Luther King's parents were ardent religious conservatives. I can't see Dr. King playing the quite lucrative race card like his inheritors Andrew Young and Jesse Jackson do. You opinionated folk who probably don't even know a single black man or woman, do me a favor. Engage a black man or woman on an issue like gay marriage, the role of religion in society, abortion, or manifold other controversial issues. Though the African-American community votes almost entirely democrat, you might find their sympathies lie almost entirely republican. Just ask 'em.

Sure is a good thing the leading dems are doing all this important campaign work rather than impeaching. Wouldn't want to distract from the big issues facing the country with a circus like that. We want uniting, not dividing, right? :)

We all bought into it. It was just like the Oprah African school scandal. Keeps her in the press, otherwise who the heck cares what she would think She is so old news. I hope that Rachel Ray is voting for Hillary!
