Scooter Libby Not Among 29 People Pardoned By Bush

President George W. Bush granted pardons to 29 people on Tuesday but Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, was not among them.

There has been speculation that before he leaves office in January 2009 Bush may pardon Libby, who was convicted in March of perjury and obstructing an investigation into who revealed the identity of a CIA officer, Valerie Plame, whose husband had criticized the Iraq war.

What a stupid article! It doesn't even tell us who the twenty-nine men were who were pardoned.

The article does mention that they were guilty of a variety of crimes, such as bank embezzlement, cocaine production, and other crimes!

A commuted sentence in no way precludes trying Libby for the real offense which is treason, the disclosure of a CIA agent is a most grievous offense and her assignment has been confirmed by the CIA.
