AP :

The Bush administration was under court order not to discard evidence of detainee torture and abuse months before the CIA destroyed videotapes that revealed some of its harshest interrogation tactics.

Normally, that would force the government to defend itself against obstruction allegations. But the CIA may have an out: its clandestine network of overseas prisons.

Cheney was very public about his role in destroying all of his e-mail: "my attorney advised me to destroy it". His attorney has not been identified to my knowledge. My hunch is that Cheney is just pulling our collective chain; but, if it turns out that Cheney destroyed his e-mail on an attorney's advice, the attorney is an accomplice or worse to serious offenses.

For that reason alone, I don't believe an attorney advised Cheney to do anything but preserve his e-mail.

The most recent information I've seen today on this issue - source forgotten - is that prosecutors and judges are saying rendition does not give Cheney, Bush, or the CIA an out.

The government is not out of control, it is in control, it is we the sheeple who have lost control. The bush crime family has committed many criminal acts as defined in USC Title 18 - but since it is IN CONTROL, no one can file charges and no one can stop them. We have become a facsist dictatoship and until the economy collapses, the situation will only get worse. The corruption, left unchecked, will only increase.

It's never too late to impeach, since when do let this criminal behavior go unchecked for years? You bet that the Dems have some responsibility for something when they take impeachment off the table and refuse to change their mind no matter what criminal activity is exposed.Isn't that the same as aiding and abetting? There has to be a special prosecutor appointed that will go where ever the evidence leads,if Dems are involved, send them to prison too. These criminals are ruining the country and crapping on the constituition while Nancy Pelosi is guarding the flanks to make sure they get away scot free.

Why is that wretch of a man still in the Whitehouse? What will it take for the people to raise up and say "we can't take it anymore" and come flooding into Washington, demand his arrest and a complete overhaul of everyone involved with this government. When the Russians had enough of the cccp, they flooded into Moscow. The Duma [government] gave the army orders to have the tanks squash the people like China did on Tianamim square. The army said they will not trample the people and turned the tanks toward the government buildings and fired at them. The chickenshit duma was passed out [drunk] in the sub-basement when they finally came to arrest the whole works.

It's not too complicated. After WW2 the United States convicted several Japanese officers for waterboarding America and Allied soldiers. It's torture, and Bush and the Boys are scrambling to avoid prosecution. "We do not torture", "Alberto said it was okay," "The tapes were destroyed," are all part of the scramble to stay ahead of the law.

Bu$h knows nothing, as evidenced by the huge number of FAILURES of his administration.

He has tortured all of us by FAILING at everything he has attempted.

What a pathetic loser - just like all those clowns running for the ReTHUGlican nomination.

That's interesting.

Because when he was running for the presidency,

I didn't know he was a dry-drunk, coke-addicted psychopath.

Vote Democratic in 2008, then

Impeach in 2009!

Fear not , like every thing else this administration has done, there might be some media coverage for a while, but nothing will happen over it.

Who said evidence was destroyed? Evidence is only information directly relevant to a pending court case. The only people that have said whether this stuff would count as 'evidence' are:

1. A lawyer for someone in Guantanamo who has never seen the tapes (obviously), but insists they were relevant to his case.

2. The CIA review board who did a thorough analysis and deemed them irrelevant to any litigation.

Anybody willing to say that a lawyer for someone in Guantanamo that has never seen the tapes knows they were relevant to his case, and thus evidence, needs their head examined.
