The interaction of religion and politics is helping to roil the Republican presidential race, with Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney gaining ground, while support for Rudy Giuliani, down especially among conservatives and highly engaged voters, has slipped to its lowest level of the year.

With a rally among evangelical Protestants, Huckabee's advanced sharply in this national ABC News/Washington Post poll, while Romney's made some progress allaying concerns about his Mormon religion. Along with Giuliani's diminished lead, his one-time chief competitors, John McCain and Fred Thompson, are near their own lows.

Obama has campaigned heavily - in like - four states. America has not yet been exposed to his genius. As the campaign continues and the states get more Obama exposure (and Hillary continues to implode), her lead will drop. Let's just have patience!

Here is what Joe Biden has to say today on 12-12-07 for a quick read: http://www.allamericanpatriots.com/48738797_senator-biden-calls-increased-support-anti-drug-efforts
Chairman of Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) applauded the good news surrounding the decreased use rates of some illegal drugs among adolescents, but reiterated his previous calls for ongoing and comprehensive anti-drug education and treatment efforts to fight prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse.

"The Monitoring the Future Study is a firm reminder that drug use trends are constantly changing and must be attacked through a comprehensive effort to educate parents and teens, and to robustly fund prevention and treatment programs," said Sen. Biden, also Chair of the Caucus on International Narcotics Control. "It"s great news that the use of certain illegal drugs among teens has declined over the years, but as the Study recognized, the usage rates of many illegal and prescription and over-the-counter drugs is still alarming."

Monitoring the Future is annual survey of the behaviors, attitudes, and values of American adolescents. Funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the Monitoring the Future Study surveys approximately 50,000 8th, 10th and 12th grade students each year on substance use levels and perceived risks and availability of various drugs including alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, hallucinogens, and, recently, prescription and over-the-counter drugs

One of HUFFPOST's posters name bigtimernc, posted this yesterday:

"...its not the 35 years of experience that turn me off with Hillary Clinton, its the lack of quality it has. Let me explain: In five years as the most influential Democrat in the Senate, Hillary has managed to get the following laws and resolutions enacted:

Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site

Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month

Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor

Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall

Name courthouse after James L. Watson

Name post office after John A. O'Shea

Designate August 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day

Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day

Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death

Congratulate the Syracuse University Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.

Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins
Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship

Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program

Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda

Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death

Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.

- Only five of Clinton's bills are "substantive":

Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11

Pay for city projects in response to 9/11

Assist landmine victims in other countries

Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care

Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the Wilderness Preservation System

Compare that with Obama's record in just less than 4 years in the U.S. Senate: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x3132998

She's only polling well in the nationals because of her name recognition. Her numbers will go down in each of the primary states as people see her & her sidekick up close & personal.

Sen. Clinton and maybe Sen. Obama are from an ineffective Congress. This is the same insider, stagnant leadership they will bring to the presidency.

Oh, "National" Poll. That sounds real and official! It seems like everyone is going to vote for Sen. Clinton, therefore I am going to do the same thing! Not.

Any poll showing a 53-23 disparity between Clinton and Obama is highly suspect, unless the poll was conducted INSIDE one of Hillary's campaign offices.

Gotta love this line...

Vastly more rely heavily on the candidates' positions on the issues (65 percent), personal qualities (58 percent) and professional abilities (54 percent). Religion and spouses also are well back in importance, albeit ahead of celebrity endorsements.

Do 65% really UNDERSTAND the candidates' positions on issues?
What the heck does anyone know about personal qualities of the candidates from 30-second attack spots?
Professional abilities? Yeah, I got a spreadshet for that purpose, doesn't everyone?

I guess you can publish any poll result you want, but that doesn't mean it's meaningful...

All 3 democrats have national vote concerns, Hillary is polarizing, Obama is young, and Edwards is a trial lawyer who can't get more than 15% in any democratic poll in the northeast.

The polls are all over the place, I just hope Iowa democrats doesn't go conservative on us and vote for the default candidate...
