I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mike Huckabee Apology

All is apparently forgiven between Republican frontrunners Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.

The former Arkansas governor told CNN that he apologized to the former Massachusetts governor for his quixotically intentioned remark to the New York Times Magazine. Huckabee asked a Times reporter, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

After the Iowa debate today, Huckabee told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, "I went to Mitt Romney and apologized to him, because I said, I would never try, ever, to try to somehow pick out some point of your faith and make it, you know, an issue, and I wouldn't. I've stayed away from talking about Mitt Romney's faith. And I told him face to face, I said, 'I don't think your being a Mormon ought to make you more or less qualified for being a president.' That has been my position."

Now, well, it's water under the bridge. Romney took Huckabee at his word. As his spokesman, Kevin Madden, told the Huffington Post:

"The governor accepted the apology. He continues to believe that this campaign should not be about questioning a candidate's faith. While it is fair to criticize an opponent's record or policy positions, it is out of bounds for one candidate to question another's personal faith."

Earlier in the day, the tone coming from the Romney campaign was not so conciliatory. Appearing on NBC this morning, the candidate himself declared that, "attacking someone's religion is really going too far." Adding, "It's just not the American way, and I think people will reject that."

We'll see if we've heard the last of religion as a campaign issue. If Lawrence O'Donnell has his say... this would be just the beginning.

Isn't this episode one GREAT example of why the founding fathers of this country established the separation of Church and State in our Constitution.

If we allow the stupid Republicans to politicize religion, we will have a perennial civil war in this country; so much that al-Qaida will become a mere spectator of the atrocities we will inflict on ourselves.

So.

What they will do is NOT talk about each other's religion, but insinuate that he or he has the better Flag lapel pin, huh?

No, Romormoni will try to pass as Christian (he is decidedly not), and Gomer will try to pass as a moderate Christian.

Both are personality cultists, one as a Baptist thumper in a white suit and tie and the other as a Mormonist trumpeter in white garments.

White. Get it? White? GOP. White. GOP. White. White. White. Whitey White.

Mmmm hm.

Ugh.

Can't believe the wording of the apology. What a fool this man is. Everything he said he wouldn't do to Romney he did, already, and just a number of hours ago. The idea that it should be stricken from the record gives what Huckabee really wants, "I said it but not really." You have to know your audience. This is not a court of law. He's such a fool, he thinks the public is going to buy the attack and then forgive and forget. The attack on Romney's religion is unamerican. So Huckabee is a fool...he even looks like one...and I do hate to comment on appearances because most of the time they are uncalled for and egregious, but the few times I've seen him he comes across like a bufoon/fool. We know he is a liar because he says he didn't influence the rapist's parole and we know he did. This is one hell of a miscreant and for some reason he thinks no can see it. Let's total it up: fool, liar, unamerican tendencies...see present administration. There is no way the Republicans would be stupid enough to make him the nominee, but if they do, bring him on, as they laughingly say.

Mitt,
It's best just to Generically promise intolerance -- not a good idea to introduce your own ACTUAL beliefs into the discussion, otherwise you are going to FREAK out the freaks who might support you.

Everyone knows that, in the last days, the unbelievers will be destroyed by the 7-headed hydra, not the flame-tailed scorpion. Sheesh.

Huckabee is just as ruthless and evil as Bush.

He is lying.

Huckabee wants the focus on Romneys religion because he knows it will turn the right wing fanatical evilgelicals against Romney.

Enough with the religion already! We'll be like Northern Ireland or the crazed desert dwellers of the Middle East before this is finished.

You gotta love the compassionate fake Christians. Its not the real christains the world has to worry about , those are the ones who actually practice the teachings of the lord. Helping the poor, ill, and their fellow man as well as caring for the earth. Its the onslaught of the flat out fakes who are more worried about their personal wealth, power, private possessions and more. The ME christain are the ones who are killing, raping, cheating and stealing. Its the organized religions for profit that are the danger, and the false prophets they attract and create. ME faith is what its all about today.
