Earlier this week, it was reported that Martha Stewart's Blueprint magazine was being shut down. This morning, on her show, Martha explained why: the kids don't like the paper!
No, Martha, explained, "this younger group of readers...really accesses its information in many different ways" (Blueprint is geared toward twenty- and thirty-something young women). "The world has changed. By blogging, they get information. By texting. By BlackBerrying. By surfing the internet. Even using their cell phones to retrieve information on the go!"
So Martha Stewart Omnimedia decided to change the format of Blueprint, shutting down the mag and...creating special issues out of the Blueprint brand. No mention of whether the new issues will be multimedia-rich or iPhone-ready, but at the end of the segment, we did get this gem: "The January/February issue goes on sale December 31. These issues just might become real collectors items!"
Martha sure knows how to spin a shuttering. Watch:
From NBC, 12/12
