Earlier this week, it was reported that Martha Stewart's Blueprint magazine was being shut down. This morning, on her show, Martha explained why: the kids don't like the paper!

No, Martha, explained, "this younger group of readers...really accesses its information in many different ways" (Blueprint is geared toward twenty- and thirty-something young women). "The world has changed. By blogging, they get information. By texting. By BlackBerrying. By surfing the internet. Even using their cell phones to retrieve information on the go!"

So Martha Stewart Omnimedia decided to change the format of Blueprint, shutting down the mag and...creating special issues out of the Blueprint brand. No mention of whether the new issues will be multimedia-rich or iPhone-ready, but at the end of the segment, we did get this gem: "The January/February issue goes on sale December 31. These issues just might become real collectors items!"

Martha sure knows how to spin a shuttering. Watch:
On her show today, Martha Stewart explained why her company decided to fold Blueprint magazine. She grandmotherly talked about text messaging and blackberries and the growing importance of the internet to the Blueprint demo. http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1336746952http://www.brightcove.com/channel.jsp?channel=1178199204

"Collector's Item"!!!
Talk about trying to make gold out of shit.
Sad thing is that there are probably some women out there who actually believe Stewart's bullshit and will run and buy magazines that would otherwise go to the dump or recycling factory. Guess that's why she is living in luxury and they are not.
