What's Your Reaction?
Oprah Hillary Still
This morning on "Good Morning America," Diane Sawyer was interviewing Denzel Washington and Oprah Winfrey about their upcoming movie, "The Great Debaters" (Denzel directed and stars in the Oprah-produced flick).

Coincidentally, the "fancy Beverly Hills hotel" where they were promoting "The Great Debaters" was also playing host to Hillary Clinton, which allowed Diane to ask Oprah questions about her support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and, more specifically, about her feelings towards his main rival.

For instance, what would Oprah say to Hillary if they ran into one another?
Oprah: "I was hoping to run into her at the gym this morning, and I'd say, 'Hi, how's things going?'
Oprah explained that her support in favor of Obama is not a vote against Clinton or any other candidate, but rather just that: support for Obama. But what if Obama is not the nominee, will Oprah support Hillary in the general election?
Oprah: "Obviously, I'm in this race because I'm believing that the person that I'm speaking up for is gonna take it all the way. And the if that doesn't happen, I might readjust my thinkin'."
Perhaps Oprah will readjust her thinkin' back to what it was in November 2005, when she told Hillary, "I hope you do us a privilege and run for office. ... [For] President of the United States."

Watch all of Oprah's thoughts:
Diane Sawyer interviewed Obama supporter Oprah on GMA this morning, and asked her about Hillary Clinton (staying in the same hotel as Oprah in LA). Oprah said she wants to run into her in the gym and that her position is pro-Obama, not anti-Clinton. http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1336737924http://www.brightcove.com/channel.jsp?channel=1178199204

From ABC, 12/12

Oprah also told Diane that she would not appear in political ads for Obama, explaining, "That's not the best use of my time."

I used to think that Obama would be a good choice but he looks like such a pussywhip when he's on stage with his wife and Oprah. A "yes-dear" caught in the headlights. And frankly, who the hell is Oprah anyway? Why is she the voice of reason? She's a talk show host that tapped into the mother lode in Yentaville and that's it. Since I'm not in the habit of taking fitness and relationship advice from flabby closet shrub scouts I don't think I'll defer to her for my political needs either.

I as in indendent democrat, in Illinois will be happy to vote for any one of the many democratic candidates over any of the republican candidates. Doesn't much matter to me which dem wins the nomination, she or he will be better then whoever wins the republican nomination.

The cult of personality strikes again and again and again.
How can anyone not be disturbed by the celebrity endorsements which equal what exactly?
Does having a TV show or making some movies somehow mean these folks are imbued with a greater, smarter, "I'm on the inside and you're not" vision for America?
It's sad that so many put so much store in what these folks are saying.
The link to Oprah's "support" for the war just proved the point that she too can most definately operate from the bully pulpit she's built for herself when she thinks she is right (or has a superior vision to the rest of us lowly thinkers). Nothing against Oprah personally - my thoughts are reflective more of a despair that more and more people know less and less and thereby frame their opinions on the blatherings found in the media.

THIS GUY NEVER TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING...MOVE ON! VOTE FOR ANYONE ELSE!

"Barack Obama continues his hard-edged, negative campaign - against his own staff. Passing blame down to anonymous staff ranks has become something of a tic for Obama. Obama pointed the finger at unidentified campaign schedulers when he had to address a New Hampshire firefighters union by telephone, instead of meeting with them in person. Obama told the gathering. "My staff had scheduled things and “they” couldn't wiggle out if it. And after media attention turned to the "Hillary Clinton Obama's campaign was producing bogus research memos/statements about Clinton's such as lies about having ties to the Indian-American community, Obama called the "unnecessarily caustic" document a "dumb mistake on our campaign's part" HE STARTED THE LIES AND NEGATIVE POLITICS…A former cocaine junkie and muslim. WE DO NOT WANT THIS GUY LEADING OUR GREAT COUNTRY; MAYBE LEAD HARPO PRODUCTIONS, SINCE HES OPRAHS DREAM…

Dear Mr. Shea,

Why do you write Ms. Winfrey's "quote" in dialect?

"I might readjust my thinkin'."

It appears to me as a subtle slam against Oprah.

When she 'readjusts', it'll make for some great TV. Doctor Phil can analyze.

We all should go down the list:
Golf-Tiger Woods.
Baseball-Hank Aaron; Barry Bond.
Football-Jim Brown.
Entertainment-Oprah.

It reminds of a Bonnie Rait and her Dad song:
"Anything you can do, I can do better."
"No, you can't"
"Yes, I can, Yes, I can, Yes, I can."
Enough said.

Oprah has low self esteem that she pumps up with grandiosity. As evidenced by her tv show, she hobknobs with ANYONE who is a movie star. She now has her sites set on being a political power broker, probably with stars in her eyes to be an ambassador to Africa or a member of Obama's cabinet. She actually thinks she can help poor people by giving them refrigerators with television sets where the icemakers belong or maybe a paninni maker will improve their lives. Her involvement in a presidential race backing a Democrat is ridiculous. She's a republican! She boosted the war. She loved Obama at first sight, sort of like how she decided she loved Tom Cruise or Dr. Phil. She is not progressive, unless you count the last five minutes.

I am not overweight, but I smell alot of pigs on this thread. Most of these posts are obviously being written by foul people(pun intended). You are mad because Oprah didn't endorse your candidate. Sour Grapes!!
