Republicans Want "Alternative" Iran Nuke Report

Iran Nuclear

AP:

Some Republicans in Congress are second-guessing a government intelligence report that Iran has abandoned its nuclear weapons program. They want a second opinion.

The National Intelligence Estimate, released last week, concludes Iran halted its weapons development program in 2003 and that the program remained frozen through at least the middle of this year. That reversed a key finding from a 2005 intelligence report, which said Iran was intently developing a nuclear bomb. An unclassified summary of the new report was released specifically to correct that impression.

Seems the White House agrees with NIE report.

We have sixteen agencies that work for the mad republican and they all agree. So one more report should out way the sixteen? The first combined report was political? How is having a bipartisan report that usually is nothing but politics, going to help? Reading between the lines says that there are a number of these people that are used to writing what ever they want and are ticked that they can't get it done this time. I suppose we can expect a lot of pink slips for christmas in the intelligence agencies.

I suggest it's time for Mr. Thompson to go back to his pretend job. Without Jack McCoy doing the heavy lifting for him, it's obvious the man is clueless.

I know Fred's dying to bomb those f*****g Iranians into oblivion. So why not do this? When the first bomb drops over Tehran he can ride it down like Slim Pickens did at the end of "Dr. Strangelove."

Well, it looks like AIPAC is mobilizing it's flunkies and lackies in the congress. We all know Ennis is in AIPAC pocket. There is something absurd about the pretense that Israel stands as the hypocritical gatekeeper against the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the Middle East. Other countries have the right to defend themselves, especially ones concerned about Israeli aggression. The double standard that Israel believes it should have the right to nuclear weapons without having to answer to anyone, including the US and the UN, for their 'security' damages not only the US but Israel as well. The premise that no one else should also be allowed that right ,even though it would also be for 'security', from Israeli aggression is ridiculous and smacks of AIPAC/Israeli/neocon rhetoric. Sanctions against Iran ? When will the US enforce the sanctions against Israel ? When will the US force them to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act ? When will the US insist on inspecting Israels nuclear facilities? If they can have nuclear weapons, why can't other countries in the area ?
In addition, the US media is kowtowing to the neocons. We in the US NEVER get the full story about the middle-east, god forbid anyone would question what part Israel has to play in the plan for Iran. It's not in the US's interest to go after Iran, but it has everything to do with "protecting" Israel. Israel has wanted to go after Iran for years now but settled for Iraq first. Bush thought they could get in and out and then get into Iran.
The warmongering for Iran is in Israel's best interest, not ours, and is being pushed on Capitol hill by AIPAC like crazy. AIPAC runs congress and the Foreign Relations Commitee and everyone knows it.The time has come for the US to stop pandering to Israel, AIPAC and any other group(s) that have only Israel's interest in mind which are, at best, destructive policies when it comes to the US.

I'm reminded of the fact-based Cary Elwes/Kelsey Grammer HBO movie THE PENTAGON WARS, specifically how when a new weapon system didn't work as advertised, they'd rig the test rather than fix the weapon. Examples include:
* taping heat lamps and space heaters to the target to help the heatseeking antitank missile find the target
* building a crane over the target to drop the Paveway bomb from
* firing the Sergeant York antiaircraft gun at hovering helicopters when it missed moving drone planes, then at stationary ground targets--which it also missed--when it missed the helicopters
* using the cheapest, most ineffective Romanian RPGs to show that the Bradley IFV wasn't an easily punctured deathtrap clad in worthless aluminum armor

Remember: it's not what can be conclusively proven when you're a gop, it's what you believe regardless of what those pesky liberal laws of physics have to say!

KNOW your history people..

"The proposed commission is based on similar review panels convened in the mid-1970s to reconsider the intelligence agencies' analysis of the Soviet Union,"

I am fairly sure that our present day NEOCON bad boy club cut their teeth on this very same type of re-porting - which history prooved to be absolute HorseShit. (See Richard Pipes and TEAM-B) ha-they were not even the A team then..

I also recomend the BBC Documentary "The Power of Nightmares"

Don't believe the IAEA, El Baradei. Don't believe our spies already in Iran. Don't believe the CIA, the worlds meanest and best.
Why don't the Republicans just say it, they want war at any cost just like the phony war with Iraq and another mess, only this time there is a whole lot more at stake. People's lives means nothing to them as long as they swim in money.

Well, to live in an alternate reality, you need "alternative reports".

Is this what its like to watch a species go extinct?

Yes, Rethugs want a faith based analysis written on a cocktail napkin and read by Moses at the U.N.

The GOP wants a blue ribbon commission to come up with a new report. It will be headed by Cheney and other members will be Rummy, Wolfie, and Bolton just to name a few. That will guarantee the GOP paper-tigers get the answers they want.
