Bush Torture Veto

AP:

The House on Thursday approved an intelligence bill that bans the CIA from using waterboarding, mock executions and other harsh interrogation methods.

The 222-199 vote sent the measure to the Senate, which still must act before it can go to President Bush. The White House has threatened a veto.

Anyone that cannot see that the giggling murderer in the White House has a mental problem should have thier head examined themselves.

I sometime wonder-

Do Neo-Conservatives secretly call their PNAC 'bible' The Good Crook?

Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader, seems intent on doing the president’s bidding. He has indicated that instead of the Judiciary Committee’s bill, he may put on the floor a deeply flawed measure from the Senate Intelligence Committee that dangerously expands the government’s powers and gives undeserved amnesty to the telecommunications companies. The White House says amnesty is intended to ensure future cooperation but seems truly aimed at making sure the public never learns the extent of the companies’ involvement in illegal wiretapping.

That will leave Democratic senators like Christopher Dodd and Russ Feingold in the absurd position of having to stage filibusters against their own party’s leadership to try to forestall more harm to civil liberties.

(This from a New York Times editorial this morning)
VERY disturbing!

I think the point is that we as a nation do not need to broadcast what we will or won't do to terror suspects. If the terrorist know what we will and won't do, how can we expect anything we do to work?

Whether or not you want to believe it our nation does need some things to remain secret.

No one will answer a simple, direct question????

If you suspected a 'scumbag' had direct or even related information that could save the lives of YOUR loved ones, would you WATERBOARD to obtain that information? Would you condone HARSH treatment to assist in the SAVING of your family?

I WOULD!

It's a simple question. Any takers?

So is SgtJiggs or whatever a regular on this site? He has that scarey accusatory "liberal". thing down.

It sounds like he is an MI expert.

Sgt would you agree with me that most of the CIA would like Bush to just shut up. Pass whatever laws you want, publically denounce torture. And you know....

I think 'keyboarding' should be banned as well as waterboarding. Having to read the puke these trollies spew out day after day is torture for any thinking person.

There's your secret government. Do you really trust your legislators to do what's right for America ethically and morally when even the bill is secret. I don't; look what we have for a government. By the people and for the people. I don't think so.

For Christmas, Laura has crafted a small pillow for George.

She was going to embroider it, but decided Crewl was more apt.

It displays the homily-

To Err-I deny it,
To Torture, Divine!

The outrage is well placed but misplaced too.
Where was it when fathers and teenaged boys
were being led away in handcuffs in Bosnia?
Where,oh where was it when the genocide happened
in Rwanda.Sudan or Zimbawe(sp?) now where people
are eating their dogs to survive?
You and I sit in lands of plenty, all we have to worry
about is higher taxes, granted health care in America, who will be the next president.
Every breath we take and thousands of people die in
this second.
We are still the lucky ones, should we ever forget it
in this season of giving.
We are often selfish without meaning to be.
Party, ideals and country first and all that.
Sometimes though, the joy of giving, far exceeds
the joys of receiving.

Something else the Neo-Cons are is Pre-Magna Carta. These people DO NOT like Democracy, for all their BS about spreading it in the Middle East. They like to call El Doofo the 'Unitary Executive'. That means Emperor in plain American. Or the King before Magna Carta. People like Bill Kristol and Richard Pearl should be understood as totalitarian revolutionaries out to undo the American Revolution.

This is an argument without a point. This "ban" will not survive the Senate. So any discussion of a presidential veto is just playing politics. Truth is extreme interrogation methods are and should remain available.
