Obama: "Hillary, I'm Looking Forward To You Advising Me"

Democratic candidates gathered in Iowa today for their final debate before the January caucuses. The overall feeling of the debate was cordial considering the recent heightened spats between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton's respective campaigns.

The atmosphere tensed up briefly when Obama was asked what new foreign policies he could offer with a staff of so many ex-Clinton advisers.

Hillary Clinton laughed out loud, and said with a smile on her face, "I'm looking forward to hearing that."

Obama, also smiling, waited for the laughter to die down before saying, "Hillary, I'm looking forward to you advising me as well."

US threatens climate change deal

The US was accused last night of trying to derail a global agreement on climate change by proposing that it becomes a voluntary agreement where countries set their own targets and timetables for reduction of greenhouse gases, rather than a legally binding one.

With just one day left, it looks increasingly likely that no agreement will be reached by ministers representing nations around the world.

The American proposed text would effectively allow any country to opt out of the next round of the Kyoto agreement. Observers said it would take climate change negotiations back more than a decade.

"THESE ARE WRECKING TACTICS," said Keith Allott, head of climate change at the nature charity WWF-UK. "The stakes are now very high and they are proposing to destroy the protocol completely. The Bush administration is trying to kill real progress."

"This is an extraordinary attempt by the Bush administration to kill off the fight against climate change," said John Sauven, director of Greenpeace UK. "If they get this text through, then it will give a free pass to any nation that wants to keep polluting.­"

If this latest debate is any indication, I am pretty sure Obama won't be getting advised by anyone, cause he won't be getting the nomination. Once again we have an excellent performance by Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton, and sub-par performances by Edwards and Obama. It is obvious to the rest of the country why the experience, strength and electability of Hillary Clinton, should trump the nice guy talk of Obama. The national polls have Hillary winning 2-1 and she remains ahead in NH and SC by comfortable margins...­.let's just pray Iowa doesn't screw the rest of the country by trying to derail Clinton, and thus ensuring 4 more years of a Republican president.
