O'Reilly Declares Victory Over The "Taliban-Like Oppression" Of Christmas

On "The O'Reilly Factor" last night, Bill O'Reilly — who boasts that he's leading the fight against the secular progressive "War On Christmas" (and who one columnist dubbed as leading the "crusaders for creches" ) — declared victory over the "Taliban-like oppression" of Christmas.

Because Bill O'Reilly saved Christmas, "all over the country, the sights and sounds of Christmas are on display. Few department stores are telling employees not to say, 'Merry Christmas.'"

And to those of you who think religion has no place in the public square, Christmas Crusader O'Reilly has seven words for you: "Joseph Stalin, Mao, and Fidel salute you!"

One other thing--what is factually incorrect about anyone saying or writing either "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings"?

There are a number of different cultural traditions that celebrate holidays at this time of year--and no matter when you say it--it is always some sort of season!!

I for one now always say "Happy Holidays" because you cannot always assume everyone celebrates Christmas and that is only being respectful and recognizant of the fact that others do celebrate other holidays at this time of the year other than Christmas or in addition to that holiday.

Faux has been trotting out this notion of "the war on Christmas" each year at this time for the past few years--always of course in conjunction with the re-release of Faux commentator John Gibson's book on the subject.

My head wants to explode when I hear this crap---

The only dimishment of Christmas comes from its crass commericia­lization--­does anyone think that Jesus would really like that????

Comedy Central used its viewers' test scores Tuesday to strike back at Fox News Channel and O'Reilly's viewers.

It also trotted out stats from Nielsen Media Research to show that Stewart's viewers are not only smart, but more educated than O'Reilly's.

"Daily Show" viewers are 78 percent more likely than the average adult to have four or more years of college education, while O'Reilly's audience is only 24 percent more likely to have that much schooling.

Plus, the network noted, "Daily Show" viewers are 26 percent more likely to have a household income more than $100,000, while O'Reilly's audience is only 11 percent more likely to make that much money.

I'm 70 years old. I've been around a lot longer than, O! Really! I don't know what he's talking about either. I can't tell much difference between this year, last year and fifty years ago except that I personally grew up and quit making such a big deal out of the Santa Claus season and the birth of the Jesus myth. It must comfort him a great deal to imagine that he defeated some war that only he imagined was going on. I guess he needs the idea of Christ Mass for his little inner child. His self esteem must be pretty low if he has to create and win battles all in his own head. Or is that just hallucinatory?
