Madonna has about as much business being the Rock Roll Hall of fame as her spawn Britney has working in early childhood development.

Today the cumulative Madonna effect on the music industry has been to legitimatize pop and bubblegum music with a focus away from ROCK music, originality and musicianship with the prime objective after record and ticket sales being manipulative attention seeking antics, cosmetic makeovers, fashion stylists, excessive exercise, hair styles, money based religions.

But the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame isn't one of them.
Cohen couldn't rock if he put on Buddy Holly's eyeglasses.
Madonna shouldn't even be allowed in the door.
Janis Joplin was Rock & Roll. Grace Slick & Dusty Springfield were Rock & Roll.
Madonna was a product. A woman with virtually no voice who sexed her way to fame, thumbing her nose at the very rebellion Rock & Roll stood for. This woman was the poster girl of the NeoCon backlash to Jim Morrison & the 60's.
Forget rebellion, hashish, Blues and Rock & roll, let's disco to the " material girl".

There are so many great bands that will never even be nominated, because Jann Wenner controls the entire process. He has systematically ignored entire regions of the country (have ANY Detroit bands like the Stooges, MC5, Nugent or the Coop even been nominated?) as well as important genres like prog.

Anyway, any old rocker worth his/her salt would avoid this so called "honor" like the plague.

And to the Madonna lovers: named ONE ska or punk rock song ever released by Madonna. Jus one.

Every year they pick 5 acts and every year I can't think of one act in the last year that should be in the HOF. No wonder they're running out of people to put in. Hall of Crap.

the whole idea of a rock n roll hall of fame is antithetical to the music from inception to the eventual deception. anyway folk music divided by musical arrangements, like rock and roll or country or blues works against the idea of music as an inclusive vehicle of expression. somebody's making money. ca ching.

You know if Karen Carpenter isn't in but Madonna is somethings wrong. I'm not knocking Madonna but she won't live long enough to sing like Karen. Oh for a Karen Carpenter-King Crimson collaboration.

I would take Genesis or even Peter Gabriel over Madonna any day.

the dave clark five were among the first wave of british invasion pop. doesn't bother me one bit that they have been named to the r n r hall of fame. sooner or later, if we live long enough, everyone will have been inducted into it.

btw, mike smith, the original keyboardist/lead singer for the dave clark five, fell from a ledge on his home in spain a few years ago and broke his neck. a terrible accident. he was trying to get inside his own home, and slipped. he is now paralyzed from the neck down.
