The Senate Judiciary Committee voted for a contempt citation against presidential confidants Karl Rove and Josh Bolten on Thursday, the latest move in an inquiry into possibly politically motivated firings of federal prosecutors.

The 12-7 vote sent the citation against the two to the full Senate, but it was not certain to advance further.

The question is? Is the Congress going to enforce their powers as a co-branch of government and arrest these people for contempt? There is president for such action and a law enforcement branch of Congress that can arrest them and hold them in contempt if the FBI dose not corroborate. Bolton can hide behind national security since he is still serving in this corrupt administration. Rove, Meyers, John Yu, Gonzo, Rummy and many others have left, now private citizens, undeserving of such protections.

There is strong evidence that Rove is behind the destruction and imprisonment of a former Alabama Democratic Governor who was going to run again after corruptions charges against him had been dropped. Their is direct link in the form of an e-mail that Rove used the Gonzo Justice Dept. to bring a 36 count indictment against the former Governor on evidence that was determined to flimsy to bring charges until right before the election. Rove can also be linked to an Alabama Republican operative whose job it was to bring down the governor. Senator Jeff Sessions, a Bush apologist has been linked to this rotten story as well. This story stinks to high heavens and if this is true than Rove has used the DOJ as a political weapon. This is very serious matter which undermines all that is good and descent about this nation, the American people deserve better than this, no matter what your political afflation is, call don"t e-mail your Representatives about these matter, it must be taken seriously.

Is that a picture of the two whitest men in America or what? Check it out--there is not one molecule in either one of these pasty-skinned sleaze buckets that remotely resembles somebody who truly cares about other people, and certainly not minorities. Maybe I'm being naive, but when Big Bill held office--sex addict or no--one got the feeling he at least cared about the majority of Americans. This crew--W. and company--haven't showed one iota of wisdom, caring, or authenticity since their little coup in 2000. Not sure how the American people could have been so duped, but we aren't a particularly politically astute folk--we only think we are, which makes us not only stupid but dangerous. In Peru, people are not only required to vote but to actually "volunteer" to be an election worker periodically. They have like 98% voter turn-out. Imagine that. Small wonder the repubs are against any voter registration initiatives. Small turn- outs and they're skill at mobilizing the wealthy, the red necks, and the religious freaks, and we get scoundrels like Bush and Cheney et al. The Roman empire was around what--nearly 700 years? Bush is the single greatest sign that this country--morally, spiritually, and leadership-wise--is already in the decline. Him, and the fact many more people were outraged by seeing Janet Jackson's boob during the Superbowl than that their own country is now torturing detainees and eavesdropping on its own citiazens. Our only hope, I believe, is Paris Hilton. I mean Gore. Run Al, run.

Finally Senator Specter has decided to follow his constitutional duty and vote with the law.

I wonder who those seven other Repugs are that voted to let Rove and Bolten be above the law?

Thankfully Senator Leahy is a true American Patriot and stands on the side of the law and not on the side of political cover.

Rove, Bolten, Meiers, Wolfowitz, Pearle, Cheney and Bush are all in contempt of the Constitution, the will of the American people, and international laws. They have utter contempt for anyone who does not agree with their fascist, dictatorial, imperialist policies here and abroad. The administration has circumvented, ignored, re-defined, or passed retroactive laws that make their illegal actions "lawful," after and once their acts are made public. Abu Ghraib, water-boarding, and other forms of torture have been carried out at the behest of Rumesfeld and Cheney, while there are numerous existing laws (both international and our own) which prohibit such treatment of prisoners. There is a Constitutional guarantee of Habeas Corpus, which has been ignored and violated. There are laws and norms which prohibit firing government employees based upon their political affiliations which Gonzo ignored. Why aren't he and John Yoo being held in contempt, by the way? There are laws which protect even the worst criminals from illegal searches and wiretaps without probable cause and warrants, which have been violated since this administration entered the White House. Providing information about employees of the government and their jobs, outing agents of federal investigative agencies (CIA, FBI, etc.) are considered acts of treason, yet that has not stopped them.
Throughout the past seven years, Congress has caved in to every whim and demand of this administration. They continue to fund a war, are poised to grant retroactive immunity to telecom firms that violated privacy agreements and laws, enabled and censured organizations and individuals who have criticized the policies, and assisted in character assassinations of many to discredit information being presented publically.
A clean sweep of the administration and congress is in order. The damage done to this country and the world is irrevocable, but we can stop this madness from continuing.

Holy crap. It's impossible to keep track of them all.
Remember the Dubai/Halliburton Port Security scandal?
Is anyone making a list?

Of course, the fact is that the Bush WH has ordered the DC US Attorney to not act on any subpeonas, contempt charges or grand jury demands that conflict with the WH's concept of executive privilege.

I wonder what Mukesey will do?

If the American people and history are to be well served this Congress must follow through the contempt charges. This simply has got to stop. Bush and his political operatives have run our Dept. of Justice for their own political purposes and not for the American people they are supposed to serve.

A full investigation of this group of thugs will be done but I fear it will be after they leave office - if the records have not all been shredded.
