The White House's Super Christian Christmas Card

This morning on "The View," Barbara Walters displayed the Christmas card she recently received from the White House. She said it was the most religious White House Christmas card in her memory. The card included explicit religious references beyond just a bible verse.

The super-Christian card features a verse from Nehemiah (Old Testament, it should be noted):

You alone are the LORD.
You made the heavens, even the highest heavens,
and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it,
the seas and all that is in them.
You give life to everything,
and the multitudes of heaven worship you.
NEHEMIAH 9:6 (NIV)

But whereas in previous years the President and the First Lady opted for messages of happiness, goodwill, and peace, this year featured the following closer:

May the joy of all creation fill your heart this blessed season 2007.

It is then signed by both George and Laura Bush.

The card was financed by the Republican National Committee.

Premilleni­al dispensati­onalist Christiani­ty will be the downfall of this nation. Driven by bitter "Confedera­te" values, this movement, which takes a literalist reading of the Bible (both Jewish and Christian works), will get the Apocalypse it so longs for, if allowed to continue to drive US foreign policy. Is the tribal mentality of the first century Judea world really all that is driving the entire Bush Administra­tion's tenure in office? Sadly, yes, it is. That and W's own bitterness and confusion.

The word CHRISTMAS is forgotten and therefore it is not a Christian card. I ask God to give him wisdom and courage so he'll not forget CHRISTMAS in the future

Bush in his usual extremist mode.
If you are going to be superstiti­ous you may as well be as over th top and extreme in the expression of your belief in fairy tales.

Not exactly "super-Chr­istian," using Old Testament (which Christians appropriat­ed from Judaism). but still - looking forward to the separation of church and state already.

This Christmas card is a theologica­l/ideologi­cal promotion of creationis­m.

'You made the heavens, even the highest heavens,
and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it,
the seas and all that is in them.
You give life to everything­...'

The message of creationis­m is then underscore­d by:

'May the joy of >all creation< fill your heart this blessed season 2007.'

These guys never get away from their political agendas, do they?

Christmas is a super Christian holiday, so a super Christian card is perfect.

CHRIST-mas (simply a day to honor Christ who was "God in the flesh"- an extention of God).

Good for Bush. Very honorable.

What a good and principled man. I may not agree with him about many many things but one thing's sure, he is not ashamed of who he is and is unapologet­ic for it. God bless him.
