Mike Huckabee, who has joked about his lack of foreign policy experience, is criticizing the Bush administration's efforts, denouncing a go-it-alone "arrogant bunker mentality" and questioning decisions on Iraq.

Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor now running for the Republican presidential nomination, lays out a policy plan that is long on optimism but short on details in the January-February issue of the journal Foreign Affairs, which is published by the Council on Foreign Relations. A copy of his article was released Friday.

BRAVO FOR MR.HUCKABEE IN THE ATTACK UPON BUSHO
II--OUR NERO. IT IS TIME THAT SOMEONE WHO READS
THE BIBLE DOES RECALL IT FOR DAILY LIFE--JESUS DID SAY, IN A QUOTE FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT,"HE WHO LIVES BY THE SWORD,DIES BY THE SWORD" WE NEED OIL TO LIVE, SO WE CHOOSE THE SWORD TO MAKE SURE WE
WILL HAVE THE OIL ARE PRICES AND PRODUCTION RATES TO KEEP AUTO-GASOLING MOGULS HAPPY--AND OUR SUV'S ROLLING.
IF ANYONE CAN EVEN RECALL MORAL PRINCIPLE, MR. HUCKABEE WILL--AND THIS IRISH CATHOLIC DEMOCRAT
AGED 70 WILL CHEER HIM--AND VOTE. J MCCORMICK

"In one specific criticism, Huckabee said Bush did not send enough troops to invade Iraq."

So we went there to "INVADE", and not "LIBERATE"?

"The United States' main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists."

And who are the "terrorists"? At the onset of our "INVASION", they were Sunnis? And then Al Qaeda showed up to crash the party. And NOW we fight WITH Saddam's loyalists, against Shiites, because of "urgent concerns about Iran's development of nuclear weapons"???

"Our failure to tackle al-Qaida in Pakistan seems to be leading inexorably to its attacking us again."

Our failure to tackle Al Qaeda in AFGHANISTAN seems to be leading inexorably to its attacking us again!!!

"In 1992, all AIDS victims should have been LOCKED UP!" ... because Huckabee thought AIDS was spread by AIRBORNE transmission??? "He was unaware of the report and had been campaigning too hard to read the newspaper or be briefed"!?

Huckabee "would not withdraw troops from Iraq any faster than Gen. David Petraeus". Another CHRISTIAN president to CONTINUE our CHRISTIAN CRUSADES...til ALL Iraqis have FLED or BLED? Will they be CRYING "God, I love freedom"?

Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta

The conservative establishment hates Huck. Why? Taxes and his economic populism? The possibility he won't be interested in deploying the legions all over the earth with the loss of all that contracting money? Maybe they think he's just a light weight. I find it strange but they really fear him.

Nice move by "the Huckster"

But this candidate remains the most dangerous theocrat to our democracy.

Now he has hired the streetfighter Ed Rollins to do his dirtywork while "the Huckster" attempts to remains pious.

I'm sorry, Mike, but Americans will never elect a wall-eyed president. I wish we (as a whole) weren't so shallow, but we are.

Oh God, Huckabee is another good ole Joe you'd like to have a drink with at the corner bar...or so people will think come election time. I've given up on the intelligence of the American voter, prefering a smooth talking snake oil salesman over somebody with sum and substance. If Hucky is the Repuke candidate, it'll be GWB all over again, especially if Hillary is the Dem. candidate.

Hey, as long as it's an April 30, 1945 kind of "bunker mentality", I'm all for it...

For a couple of men who have been around power all of their lives, Bush and Cheney seem to miss the point of power.

Bush's bunker mentality is recognized around the world as representing a narrow minded and greedy America bent on empire! The problem with Huckabee is that he doesn't represent the right (no pun intended) type of vision that the country needs! He's a religious nut and we don't need anymore of that kind of silliness running the country!

"American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out," Huckabee said. "The Bush administration's arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. My administration will recognize that the United States' main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists."

It's refreshing to see a Republican presidential candidate be candid with respect to the disastrous Bush administration, to point out with complete clarity their abject failure to lead and the catastrophic corner they have painted us into.

Where was he when speaking out against Bush/Cheney might have actually done some good? All the Republican candidates are going to say that they want to fix the problems of Iraq, global warming, the deficit, job losses, et al, but just like Bush, once they get elected, the Cato institute and the special interests will be running the place. Mr. Huckabee, the time to speak out for principle is not in the last stages of a campaign, but during your whole lifetime.
