Mike Huckabee, who has joked about his lack of foreign policy experience, is criticizing the Bush administration's efforts, denouncing a go-it-alone "arrogant bunker mentality" and questioning decisions on Iraq.

Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor now running for the Republican presidential nomination, lays out a policy plan that is long on optimism but short on details in the January-February issue of the journal Foreign Affairs, which is published by the Council on Foreign Relations. A copy of his article was released Friday.

I think he's right. However, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Mr Huckabee,
I'm curious here, just how old would you say that our world is?

"American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out." -- Huckabee, Dec. 2007

Now where have we heard that before? Oh yeah...

"I think the United States must be humble.. in how we treat nations." -- Bush, Oct. 2000.

Fool me once...

Brother Huck is taking the gloves off as the Republican establishment tries to stop him.

I just love it when the evangelicals "go ole testament". (That's like "going postal")

Samson in the temple. Judges 16: 21-31

I for one hope that Brother Huck achieves his noble goal (Judges 16:31).

This is just a page from the Republican "playbook"!To say an extremly unpopular President was wrong about his universally unpopular foreign policy is no brave move! Huckabee has now captured the Conservative base and must move on to appealing to independents and others! Saying this kind of thing is what he thinks they want to hear! The object of the exercise now is to make himself acceptable to the wider electorate!

"My administration will recognize that the United States' main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists."

Hate to admit it.

But Huck is right.

I wish a Democrat would describe Bush as having a bunker mentality.
Then expand the point.

Oh, look at little Huckabilly, trying to grab a little of that John McCain/Chuck Hagel "maverick" magic by bashing Chimpy. Except THEY put their political careers on the line to oppose some Chimpy's policies (especially Hagel), and they know what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to foreign policy--Hucky didn't even know what an NIE was. A little late to join the bash-GWB bandwagon, but I'm sure it's just a ploy to keep the leftie media on Huck's side. Tell you what, Huckster, you could have opposed the war a long time ago, but no--you want to keep our troops there to fight the "theologic war" and preserve our "honor"...what an ignorant ass this man is. Someone please stop him from inflicting his ignorance on the rest of the world.
