With latenight ratings continuing to plunge, the betting in network circles is that several hosts will be back on the air by Jan. 7, if not sooner.

Nothing's been officially decided, and nobody will comment. But with the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers so broken up, people familiar with the situation said several hosts are nearing the conclusion that it's time to return.

letterman's head writer let him off the hook...

"He made the right decision, and when and if he decides to come back, it will be the right decision ¦ Maybe his greatest potential is as an on-air provocateur," says picketing Late Show scribe Bill Sheft in this morning's New York Post.

and unlike the wga, maybe dave cares about his non-writing crew.

Why did Huffpo place a photo of Letterman at the head of this article?

"Latenight insiders, however, believe Leno and O'Brien are most likely to return in early January, no matter what Letterman decides."

The story contains nothing but rumour but even then, it points much more strongly to the possibility of Leno and O'Brien returning than Letterman.

"Nothing's been officially decided, and nobody will comment."

Wow -- what a scoop.

Linking to Variety on the strike is like linking to FreeRepublic on waterboarding.

i think its great! finally not only fresher material than the spoil sport wga cry babies but thanks to those guys for seeing the bigger picture. ok it may include more money in the hands of the studios but folks if money isn;t being made and you want to break these people and expect to get your residuals as well as perhaps, get your job back think about the bigger picture here - good grief i wish you people would get a clue at your selfishness and holier than thou self entitlement. you are just so clueless about business in geneneral its just sad. i know thae the rest of the crew that has been suffering at your hands will be greatful that they just have a job.

If they return, they should be blackballed for life. For ever. If they think up funny lines to say, if they engage in conversation with guests, they are writing. If they deliver other people's words, they are shills.

Letterman, Leno, O'Brien and Ferguson and Kimmel all joined the WGA so they could share in our awards programs. They were more than happy to be nominated for Emmys with their writing staff. Now they want to pee in all the other members faces.

If they were to be blackballed, I guarantee we'd start to hear stories from the other writers that weren't the solidarity "we love Dave/Jay?Jimmy?Conan" party line but more of a "I can't believe they abandoned me" direction.

Scabbing is scabbibg, no matter who does it.

I really don't know why David has such big

audience. Why his making millions dollars?

it's hard for me to understand it.

That "10 things" is so boring!!!!!

Have you ever noticed when he licks his

fingers? It's makes my stomach sick.

One thing that bothers me why

David's Mother have such "poor" kitchen?

Every Thanksgiven Day his Mother is baking

"pies" in the same "simple" kitchen.

He should asks 0prah to asks Nate to go

to his Mother's house and build a new

kitchen for her. She seems to be a lovely

lady and so is David.

During an AFTRA strike in 1967 Johnny Carson stayed off the air for the ENTIRE strike. In fact NBC replayed episodes of the TONIGHT SHOW during prime time because they were so desperate for programming. This was actually a violation of Johnny's contract and when the AFTRA strike was over Johnny stayed out on his own strike until NBC made it up to him. If Leno, Letterman etc ever want to truly fill Carson's shoes they will have to have the same fortitude that made him the bane of NBC executive existence.

David Letterman is an asshole of the first degree. His "humor" is weird/scary/not funny. Half the time he clowns around with throwing pencils or "acts up" in some fake window. I don't give a shit if he personally comes back or not, he's a fuckstick. Jack Out.

Which comes first for the top dogs? Unity with the people at the bottom? Or covering their ass? Money wins out every time.

Please, please, please, late night guys, hold out. The writers could use your support and let's face it, you need them. Without the writers, your jokes will suck, your bits will be lame and the quality of your shows will resemble writerless shows like Survivor, Millionaire, and American Idol.
