Bill Clinton: Voting For Obama Is 'Rolling The Dice'

In a hard-changing interview with Charlie Rose tonight, Bill Clinton said Americans who are prepared to choose someone with less experience, are prepared to "roll the dice" about the future of America. "It's less predictable, isn't it? When is the last time we elected a president based on one year of service before he's running?"

"What do you want to do -- whether you think it matters that, I mean, in theory, no experience matters," Clinton said. "In theory, we could find someone who is a gifted television commentators and let them run. They'd have only one year less experience in national politics..."

Perhaps but voting for Hillary is like rolling snake eyes. In Roman games of dice rolling snake eyes meant treachery and betrayal. The Clintons seem to being preaching moderation. I'm sorry moderation is the problem. Hillary is not a fix to undoing Bush. That's like changing tires on the car when it is the engine that is broken. Not that there is one only way to undo Bush, I am comfortable with a whole range of options from Kucinich to Edwards to Obama to Biden to Bloomberg but Hillary is not one of them simply because she is of one of them. And by them in that last case, I mean the establishment, part of a cabal catering to corporations.

Bill Clinton had no experience in national politics before he was elected.

If Sen. Clinton were not running to get the nomination, perhaps Pres. Clinton would have waited until after the Democratic convention to throw his support behind one of the candidates? If he did that, he would be letting the Democratic voters have more influence in choosing the eventual nominee. I get the feeling that he is lending his wife his support because she deserves it as a wife, as much as she deserves it as a candidate. This is understandable in the husband-wife dynamic, but I think it may be unfortuneate for the American people. If Sen. Clinton is going to get the nomination, I would like to see her get it without Pres. Clinton's overt endorsement.
