Bill Clinton

Theatlantic.com:

In a hard-changing interview with Charlie Rose tonight, Bill Clinton said Americans who are prepared to choose someone with less experience, are prepared to "roll the dice" about the future of America. "It's less predictable, isn't it? When is the last time we elected a president based on one year of service before he's running?"

"What do you want to do -- whether you think it matters that, I mean, in theory, no experience matters," Clinton said. "In theory, we could find someone who is a gifted television commentators and let them run. They'd have only one year less experience in national politics..."

What do the Clintons share with George W. Bush? A sense of entitlement. Both Bush in 2000 and Clinton now felt ENTITLED to the presidency.

Arrogance!

Anyone think the Des Moines Register endorsement will play a major factor in the Caucuses?

It took Reid and Pelosi to make Bush start looking better again. Can we find new leadership?

To those pushing Ron Paul as a choice for Liberals:

Not being a blood-thirsty warmonger like the rest of the Republicans makes Ron Paul a human being, not a Liberal.

To be a Liberal, one has to be a good human being.

MEREDITH, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential hopeful Bill Richardson on Saturday decried the "nasty little fights" between his Democratic rivals, saying the scuffles distract from serious issues in the campaign.

In recent weeks, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's supporters have spread rumors against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and raised questions about his teenage drug use and his faith. Those discussions only hurt the Democrats and could have been avoided if they had joined him in a promise to run a positive-only campaign, Richardson said.

"Almost a year ago, I came out and said all the Democratic hopefuls need to sign a pledge that we won't attack each other. Only Joe Biden signed it with me," Richardson said to laughter.

The Richardson said the infighting hurts the party in the November general election and undermines their policy proposals.

"Why isn't the Democratic Party, why aren't all of us talking more about jobs? ... It should be about who can change this country, who can govern, who has the experience to do it and most importantly, who can bring this country together," Richardson said during a town hall laden with policy summaries.

His campaign has tried to play up his resume: New Mexico governor, former energy secretary, UN ambassador, congressman. On paper, he is one of the Democrats' strongest options, but he hasn't yet been able to catch fire.

"Some of the smartypants set in Washington think it's a two-person race so they're focusing on the fights between the two top people, the nasty little fights," Richardson said.

Current polls have a tight race emerging in the early states. Clinton posted 32 percent and Obama posted 31 percent among likely Democratic primary voters in a Concord Monitor poll released on Friday. Edwards was even at 18 percent and Richardson had 8 percent support.

THERE IS A REASON I LIKED BOTH JOE BIDEN AND BILL RICHARDSON - THEY ARE THE ONLY TWO WHO HAVEN'T GONE NEGATIVE!!!!

The Democrats need to get behind the guy who is qualified and was the nominated Vice Presidential candidate - John Edwards. 2004 was a damn close election, stolen (again) by dirty tricks in Ohio (ref RFKennedy's article, "Was the 2004 Election Stolen", in Rolling Stones Magazine. Link here:

Hey Bill, hindsight is 20/20, but neither you nor George W. Bush had what could be termed "experience" to be POTUS based on your governor days. We don't need any more Clintons or Bushes running this country. Go away please.

Among all negative things that are going on, I feel great about one fact. Race and gender have played virtually no role in Democrats deciding bewteen Obama and Hillary.

Democrats should feel good about it.

In another hundred years, Republicans might catch up to this level of intellectual enlightenment. That is, if they are still around in hundred years, and have not met the fate of the dinosaurs.

Right now, they are still stuck in their Jesus-Satan dilemma, and whether the earth is flat or round issue.

Remember folks, when liberals come up to you demanding change...

Just tell them you don't have any.

Once again, we have allowed the MSM to define the top-tier candidates.

I cannot support HRC under any circumstances because I believe that she is simply more of the same and beholden to the corporate power structure. Bill and Hillary did not anticipate a Barack Obama in this campaign and it is obvious that they are truly frustrated by his ability to connect with voters.

Today's Democratic Party is in disarray because of Bill Clinton's triangulation or centrist strategy. This centrist attitude is why Beltway Democrats have no problem labeling Progressives as nothing more than a bunch of ultra liberal crazies who make up a very small minority of the Democratic Party.

I am tired of being minimized by people I have supported for years and believe that Progressives are going to have to decide whether the Democratic Party is really providing the alternative and progressive solutions they are seeking.

I firmly believe that the Democratic leadership has lost its way and unless we move to publicly funded elections and start seriously supporting primary or third party candidates that we will get nothing better than what we have today. As many have already stated, we need to decide how far we are willing to go to elect politicians who understand they serve the People.

HRC lost sight of this concept long ago - she is more of the same and, frankly, we deserve better.

The Night Dick Cheney Went Crazy

Down in the basement all the trolls were making toys
For the good neo-con girls and the good neo-con boys
When the boss busted in, nearly scared 'em half to death
Had a rifle in his hands and cheap whiskey on his breath
From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo
Like a big fat drunk disgruntled Wyoming Rambo
And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye
"Merry Christmas to all - now you're all gonna die!"

The night Dick Cheney went crazy
The night Darth Vader went insane
Realized he'd been getting the raw deal
Somethin' finally must've snapped in his brain

Well, the basement is gone now, he decided to bomb it
Everywhere you'll find pieces of Laura and Condi
And he tied up his helpers, and he held the trolls hostage
And he ground up poor Georgie into Kennebunkport sausage
He got Gonzo and Ashcroft with an old German Luger
And he slashed up Bolton just like Freddy Krueger
And he picked up a flamethrower and he barbecued Muckasey
And he took a big bite and said "It tastes just like chicken!"

The night Dick Cheney went crazy
The night The Shooter went nuts
Now, you can't hardly walk around the South lawn
Without steppin' in neo-con guts

There's the Blackwater security and the FBI
There's a man from the Rupert’s Faux News
In a helicopter circlin' 'round in the sky
And the bullets are flying the body count's rising
And everyone’s dying to know -"Oh Dicky, why?"
My, my, my, my, my, my - used to be such a jolly guy.

Deep in Wyoming, now Dick’s doing time
In a Federal prison for his infamous crime
Hey little GOPer now, don't you cry no more tears
He'll be out on good behaviour in seven hundred more years.

Thanks to Weird Al for the structure.

Come on, Bubba. Give us a break. It isn't as if we have no other choices beside Obama and Hillary. Only people who look at polls 24/7 think like that.

And that's the problem with you and Hillary. You look at polls all the time. But we aren't electing Zogby, we're electing a president. And the election is 11 months away! Give us a break, please.

Remember Bill; America rolled the dice in 1992. They got you. The Supreme Court rolled the dice in 2000. They got Dumbya, and America got stuck.

I watched the whole interview in replay on Sat anoon.

I thought Charlie Rose did a great job.

Watch the schlickmeister deftly moving the question from the Iraq war to sub-prime mortgages at minute 19.

(a taste of the problem Iraq now poses for dems who had the chance to take the pot after 06 election but chose to raise instead. Repubs stayed in the game and now dems are looking for the exit)

Charlie trips up the pro at minute :24 on the question of "experience" versus "change".

at about minute :40 Bill starts talking about his own campaign in '92 (as a lesson for Hilary in '08) and the old charming, skillful political persona shines through.

Otherwise this interview is a disaster for Hilary. The first 20 minutes were about Bill's cavorting with billionaires like Warren Buffet and foreign governments to solve porblems in places like Bangladesh. The Clintons just aren't Seabiscuit anymore like they were in
'92. Nobody's cheering for them.
