Tonight's Program: Axis Of Evil In D-Minor
The New York Philharmonic has accepted an invitation to visit the North Korean capital of Pyongyang for a concert in February, marking the first significant cultural visit by Americans to the country President Bush famously included in his "axis of evil." The invitation, sent by fax earlier this year by the North Korean Ministry of Culture, has been endorsed by the U.S. State Department and may finally give North Koreans the chance to fully embrace the same kind of indifference towards classical music felt by Americans.
And what American cultural institution could pass up an invitation like this one?
