Bush And Bush

George H. W. Bush has responded to Bill Clinton's claim that under President Hillary, the two ex-presidents would travel the world restoring America's image.

Clinton said yesterday:

Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again.

The media world was aflutter with the possibility: a former Republican president acting on behalf of Democratic leadership, to repair the foreign policy failings of his own son.

Turns out Bush 41 hasn't exactly signed up for the proposal, and he's not too keen on the insinuation that W. is doing such a bad job. Former President Bush's office has just released this statement:

Former President Bush wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an "around-the-world mission" with either former President Bill Clinton or Senator Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.

And just in case anyone thought H.W. Bush had so warmed to Bill Clinton that he was considering endorsing Hillary, the statement concludes:

President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for President, and looks forward to supporting their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.

Here's every HuffPo headline the last two months:

"OMG!!!

Bill said something, and I think it was bad, and then there was a trip, and Hillary, and she cackled, and then stuff about Bill and stuff.. and..

uhhh...

OBAMA!"

It really is refreshing to see democrats wake up to what Republicans have known for decades about the Clintons.

We're on your side on this one. Kudos to all.

The more I watch Huckabee turn the Republican party upside down, the more I believe Obama will be a tough candidate to beat.

Independents are sure to love him in the general election, unless Romney gets the Republican nomination. Even then, it will be close.

We don't fear Hillary anymore. But we don't fear Obama. He's not a divisive candidate.

I don't believe he FIRED back at all. He sent out a statement. But I suppose no one would have read your blog if you didn't exagerate the response. FIRED is much more dramatic!

Maybe it's a tactic?

Bill Clinton is purposely saying stupid shit to keep the heat off Hillary.

Bill gets the national attention, but the Iowans are getting Hillary.

It certainly looks like Bill is slipping and I agree it's rust from being out of the arena for too long.

As they say in boxing; they never come back.

Bill Clinton did leave his office with pretty high approval ratings and he should have stayed out of the spotlight, because he is now like a good boxer who decided to fight just one more time and then received a bad beating and ended up with brain damage. I feel it is best to leave when you are doing well and never look back.

I love how people put the "blame" of this trumped-up piece-of-garbage non-story on Clinton, and not Bush.

Why wouldn't Bush be talking a load of shit? You don't think he'd backtrack to protect his legacy or his party?

Come on people, put the HRC bashing down for one second and think. Not everything is some Clinton Conspiracy.

I feel Hillary would be best served to insist her husband have a full psychological evaluation before she allows him to speak in public again. He was probably one of the best speakers when he was president but I feel he has gone off his rocker and Hillary should stop him before it is to late for her own campaign.

Bill has a little trouble with definitions. Like "is", for instance. It also seems he has a misunderstanding of the definition of "rusty." He has that confused with LYING.
I used to like Bill Clinton. Now I find him disgusting.
