Obama is probaly a decent enough person and an ok politician if you agree with his views.
I haven't seen anything that would make me compare him to Lincoln. When Lincoln won the presidency and came to Washington,DC he didn't know if the crowds would drag him from his carriage and kill him. That's how bad things were. Lincoln persevered and held the Union together when many wanted to take the easy road and let the South leave.
I haven't seen or heard anything in Obama's past that would make me compare him to Lincoln. I'd be interested in knowing what Burn's sees in him to make that comparison.

Ken Burns warships war.

The Obama-Rama have compared Obama to everyone under the sun; at last count, the only ones left for him to be compared to are, Britney Spears -&- Paris Hilton.

We know that Obama doesn't have very much experience, but this 'name-dropping' for Obama has gotten beyond ridiculous.

If O-Bomb-a steals Lincoln's message and wears a stove top hat, he just as well may wear a bullseye shirt from Target. Some one will find him in a crowd.

O-Bomb-a you are no Lincoln, you are not even at Ken Burns level of historical credibility and commercial product production.

O-bomb-a may be some black Muslem's candidatre but that is about it. His base also includes some very liberal socialists and bleeding heart welfare leeches who should actually work for a living.

Ken Burns may just want to sell more Civil War video collections to black voters as a part of an effort to exand his market. Ken, what is next a series on the life and times of Malcolm X or will you be too busy kissing O-bomb-a's butt?

Part 1

I have been saying that from the get-go. If people don't see it then I guess they missed the story of Lincoln. Stories are stories and Ken Burns is good at telling them but Ken Burns is also a historian and like him I see a man with integrity and fortitude rising at a moment when the country needs a courageous leader with moral fortitude. That along with being from Illinois makes a very clear case of this reference to similarities.

Of course it is different times and also Obama is black and not white (btw some of the comments on the race issue are disgusting). His wife is a genuine powerhouse and has her own charm and charisma...there too a difference can be drawn but we must come back to a great leader at a time when the nation may be facing its greatest crises since the Civil War!

I am not talking about the War on Terror what a trumped up bunch of hooey that was and what a bunch of SISSY BOYS this country is made of! And I am not talking about gays, I am gay, proud to be! I am talking about the millions of men and women who shake in their boots when the government says BOO! PATHETIC! We need a Roosevelt and then some, someone who will dare to say that the only thing we should fear is fear itself! On 9-11 a couple of clowns got lucky because our people were asleep at the wheel or someone deliberately let things slip.

Part 2
Think of it, it was reported to the FBI that people were taking flying lessons and were only interested in the 'flying' part and not the landing! Dah! Talk about clueless that should of raise a red flag the size of Texas.

Osama bin Laden's boys were successful, what was it nine men, why didn't we STAY THE COURSE AND GET HIS A _ _? BECAUSE Cheney Rumsfeld and Bush had other ideas and were going to do them at any cost! And they could get away with it because¦ politicians are gutless and Americans are blood thirsty...so you see now what that has gotten us!

We are in a WAR alright, but our WAR SHOULD BE ON IDIOTS AND LIARS! This country needs leadership, GOOD AND GREAT leadership now, HONEST leadership NOW. Only three candidates come off as trustworthy to me and they are Obama, Kucinich and Paul. I do not trust anyone else! And that is probably one of the strongest likeness of Obama, honest Abe, I think we all can trust what he is going. He will do what needs to be done and he is not going to lie to us like our current President does. We in the have a lot of work to do.

Lincoln was historicly a dispicable scoundrel and during his tenner and conflict period had thousands of journalists jailed and silenced all of the press in America and was the tyrannt of tyrannts during the civil war. He was the one who authorized the sacking and burning of cities and slaughter of tens of thousands of people.

He even had the supreme court justice jailed under his war powers authority.
He distroyed the freedom of the states to form a more, in his words, "perfect Union".

Though every country at one time or other has had their tyrannt and through time their crimes against the people are forgotten when they wrap themselves in patriotism and the flag. And they wrote the history at the time of Lincoln for making a hero and building the Myth of Lincoln.

If I have offended anyone's patriotism regarding the scoundrel, I suggest you go to the library and do a bit of research.

Part 3

We must build our international relationships again and we won't do that by being KICK A_ _ COWBOYS. We must bring our friends back and make new ones. The world is about to explode! HELLO!

We have CLIMATE ISSUES, INTERNATIONAL ISSUES, bridges are falling, blackouts, education and drop out rates are frightening, housing defaults, seniors whose life earnings have been dwindled from hundreds of thousands to a few, this country is going to be deep in it in just a few years! Health care, immigration that is not going away either, we got to face facts the world is changing and we need a leader to LEAD US...and we are almost to the place where we need one to SAVE US!

IF America wishes to take the liberty to be afraid then it should fear fear because our fear has led us into more trouble and less resolution and safety. We need to get out of Iraq and the region. We need to build our relationships with the world again. We need to lead in research and development of new energies. Just think if the billions that were spent on the Iraq War and Halliburton, think if that was put into R&D on energy! We need to lead in energy and we need to lead in peace. We need to lead in finding disease and making the world safer more efficient and COOLER. Let's get cool!

I see honest Abe, thinking Abe, pondering Abe, and praying Abe in Obama...and I like what I see!

The refreshing thing about Obama is that in the midst of all the sarcasm, mockery, and sniping, he conveys that he is smart enough to outwit those who belittle, and confident enough not to respond in kind.

How easy to say "puh-lease"; how difficult to actually hear the comparison Burns is drawing and recognize that there was a time when Lincoln was just a relatively inexperienced guy from Illinois with the self-assurance to face a pivotal time in our country. That was the extent of Burns' comparison. Whether Obama will have the opportunity to further any basis for comparison is as yet unknown, but I hope he does.

Here in Massachusetts we've seen only a few campaign ads - and that's all we get on any of the candidates. The so-called news industry gives us only polls and catfights. We get zero substance on political matters.

So how in the world can anyone determine who Obama is or what he has to offer, beyond campaign platitudes? Obama = Lincoln? Based on what? As far as I can tell, Obama is just a charismatic man running for president because he can.

Ken Burns should stick to filmmaking.
