I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee is bringing his Christmas cheer, and his Baptist minister roots, to Iowans this election season. His recent ad, "What Really Matters," features the former governor offering citizens a Merry Christmas.

This isn't your ordinary Happy Holidays event. Huckabee lets loose the Christian spirit, saying "what really matters is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ." The ad also features a bookshelf in the background that appears to some like a "floating cross." The ad is a not-too-subtle play to Iowa value voters, who cringe at what they view as an increasingly secularized holiday.

Asked about the ad today, Ron Paul decried Huckabee's religious iconography with his own veiled reference on Fox and Friends:

"It reminds me of what Sinclair Lewis once said. He says, 'when fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.' Now I don't know whether that's a fair assessment or not, but you wonder about using a cross, like he is the only Christian or implying that subtly. So, I don't think I would ever use anything like that."

Mike Huckabee's campaign today denied that the bookshelf/cross was an intentional reference. Iowa Director Eric Woolson responded:

It's the window frame in the background... Once you've got it in your head that it's a cross, it's a cross.

See the original ad and Ron Paul's response below.

TO: Dr. Ron Paul December 18, 2007
Are you the Good Doctor?

I am a Christian.

Where were you when the Welfare Reform Bill of 1996 Time Limit was put in. It threw to the wolves the least of Jesus Brethren which He said you did unto him too. Florida no Welfare. Wisconsin no Welfare. Shelters unacceptably cruel and unsafe. Where were you? Mayor Gavin Newsom espouses Care not Cash, and I would have thought you'd object that as a Doctor should. One needs money for job seeking, pain needs, clean clothes for sanity, job faxes, phones, etc. Where were you? Money has not been spent of job seekers, homeless poor. Where were you to object. The homeless have to bear a terrible burden.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger had my Report of scarce few food, job resources in U.S. which he ignored which including a terrible hospital practice. I quit evil jobs and in April 04 I sent Gov. Schwaraenegger the fact in my neighborhood the grocery stores with owners' signatures no longer took EBT Food Stamps. He ignored this. Also Atty Gen Jerry Brown. Dirty unsanitary machines. Cruelly you wait alot. I'm selective. The hospitals out here have a cruel double you up patients where someone you don't know is put in your room right after a major surgery. Where has everybody been?

The Good man cares for others. The hermit does not pay for what he gets because all the comforts in enjoys in civilization he owes to the efforts of others, but contributes nothing himself. He does not interest himself in the problems of society--in the poor, the suffering, the struggling. He is a distastefully self-centered man. Therefore I neither approve of him nor respect him From para ex. art from English Grammar and Composition by John Warriner,'48,'58 also reader for College Entrance Examination Board. Psalm 41 I will heal him on his sickbed and cure all his ailments if he is kind to the poor. Prov 29:14 A King keeps his throne forever if he cares for the Rights of the poor. As someone who knows about lighting and production, the only reason to key light something in the background is to steal a viewer's focus from the subject in the foreground.

Maybe The Huckster just wanted us to look at the ornaments back there and think about what balls it takes to use the cross as a campaign tool.

Watch other campaign spots, see if you can find any others that key light a "window" or some other unimportant object so brightly in the background. His denial is blatantly dishonest and his insultingly glib responses to avoid answering questions or telling the truth have become annoying.

This confirms a lot about The Huckster.

1. He is a bald faced liar.

2. His campaign is openly cynical in its attempt to use Christianity to get elected.

What a piece of work!

What a Jars of Clay of crap that statement is. Typical Christian prevaricating bullshit. While they're at it, why don't they spotlight a Franklin Mint decorator dinner plate to show up like a medieval halo behind Huckabee's head?

Laugh my f*cking ass off.

The interview with Paul on Fox was a great example of how worthless Fox is, OK, everyone knows that already. They asked him to answer with one word, he answered with more because it is impossible to answer with one word, questions that are important.

One word answers from a Presidential candidate?? WTF!! Thats fair and balanced and also really pathetic.

Sinclair Lewis was right, if the regressive right wingnuts had their way we would live in a plutocratic theocracy. Christo-fascists is another term that describes the nutty theocrats in this country, what a bunch of goons!

Yuckabee raised a monster son who thinks it is okay to hang a dog, slit its gut open and stone it. Now that's the kind of Christianity I'm talkin' bout! That good old fashioned rapin' and a-pillagin' kind of action! Amen to that brother!

I've seen that hot blond Gretchen(forget her last name, sorry) on previous Fox News shows talking to Dr. Paul. I believe she is a Paul supporter since she always seems to be nice to him and actually lets him finish his sentences and thoughts.

As carefully managed and staged as campaigns are, it's bullshit for Pastor Huckabee to suggest that there's nothing to the cross being present. Bull---shit.

Floating cross?
Nah!
It was crosshairs put there surreptitiously by Ron Paul loons who infiltrated the Huckabee campaign.
He had to throw off suspicion by those comments but you know it's true.
You'll see.
AHWOOOOOOO!

Yuckabee not a fascist? I wouldn't bet money on it. If Yuckabee truly had his way, he would have us all convert to Christianity. Doesn't exactly sound like a democracy to me. But then again, these are Faux news reporters. What do they know about democracy. Ron Paul on the money (figuratively and literally) as always. Gotta love that Libertarian stuff.
