Yesterday on "The View," Sherri Shepherd discussed taking her two-year-old son Jeffrey to a toy store that was having a sale instead of giving him a nap. She described the store, Giggle, as "a rich white folks' store."

What distinguishes a "rich white folks' store" from any other store? For Sherri, it's the inability to physically discipline her screaming child. Jeffrey was crying as they shopped for toys, but Sherri told the panel that, because she felt guilty about bringing him to the store instead of letting him nap, "I couldn't do what I normally would have done. Plus the people [were] looking at me like, this wasn't a store that looked like they beat the kids. So I had to do as the Romans do when I was in the Roman store."

It remains unclear whether these Romans came before or after the Christians.

This woman is the most ignorant woman I have ever seen on national television. First, there has always been a Jesus (why does she think He was born in a manger-King Herod, Roman Empire anyone???) and now thinks everyone would come down on her because her "black" baby was crying and no one else's was! Gimme a break, woman. Babies cry and everyone expects it, it doesn't matter what they look like. You expect wildcats to bite and scratch, too-but leopards and cheetas don't look alike. Would someone do the world a favor and fire this ignoramus, please?
Better yet-since she thinks Jesus has always been around, and Mike Huckabee thinks the world is only 6000 years old, why doesn't Huckabee's campaign hire her?

My parents didn't beat me, inside or outside the house, but we were not "rich white folks." So, what does this make our family? Grey?

I predict a James Olfari Hutchinson blog in Sherri's defense tomorrow.

Let me see.

If she had gone shopping in a "poor folks store" she could have beaten her child who was sleepy having missed his nap because he is only 2.

Is there any way people like her can be dealt with in some humane way. Waterboarding comes to mind.

I cannot even imagine someone who would beat a two year old child because that someone made the child miss its nap.

I wonder if Sherri's purpose on the show is to fill in the "dumb" role with Hasselbozo's absence.Sadly there is an audience for dumbness and The View tries to appeal to everyone..even the dumbos.

It's a matter of priorities. Do you value your child's health and well-being the most, or going where you want to go when you want to go? I bend over backwards not to disrupt my son's sleep schedule. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but far better to disrupt YOUR schedule than have a cranky child that drives you nuts.

What blows me away is that Sheppard thought this was a discipline issue at all. Her son was simply tired, he wasn't consciously being bad. For the love of Pete, if she has to go out, can't she get a babysitter? Surely she can afford one, The View can't pay that badly.

All right. So basically... Sherri "normally" would deprive her two year old child of a nap, then drag him out tin public, and when he cried, she would beat him. Got it.

I love the way she can make her eyes pop out like Mantan Moreland. Some traditions refuse to die.

Sheri was saying that if she had hit her child in the store it would have been sen as another Black woman abusing her child. Race trumps class in America (why do you think there isn't a term for poor Black trash)?

Sorry is not a black thing it's any color/ethnic parent who has no ability to discipline their child, I see it in restaurants/stores all the time-seems to me it's an ordeal for some parents and for others it's not. I've never seen her on The View but she seems kinda loopy you'd (hope?) think members of her community would be appalled as representative of their community.
