Campaign Ad Review: Mike Huckabee's "What Really Matters"

23/6: News You Can Misuse   |   December 19, 2007 09:26 AM

The latest ad from Mike Huckabee attempts to solidify the former Arkansas governor's Christian bona fides. Coming on the heels of a New York Times magazine profile in which Huckabee mocked Mitt Romney's Mormon faith, the ad--airing in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina--also takes a not-so-subtle dig at the War on Christmas.

"What really matters" are the following:
1) we live in a DEMocracy, not a THEOcracy. Does this guy understand the difference??
2) the founding fathers, were, by in large, deists NOT christians. "Christ" or "God" doesn't appear in any of our important documents and wasn't added to our currency until the 1940's-ish.
3) the country has seen what "a good christian man" has done to our country, our reputation in the world and our American treasure wasted in an illegal war for profit under the guise of speeding up the return of geeeeezussss.

THOSE things really matter, huckster.

On the other hand, if he is their candidate, it will cleave their party right down the middle and herald the end of these neocon fascists motherless bastards. Now, if we can just keep the dems from screwing up this election.........

Let's hope this christianist loon gets the nomination for the Rethugs. He will lose BIG, and this country can hopefully move forward and away from all these theocratic scum.

The GOP courted these freaks and now they will reap what they have sown: an unelectable god-fearin' hayseed who thinks the earth is only 6,000 years old.

Nice to see Rove's tactic of playing to the theocractic base finally biting them all on their collective asses.

You can not be a Republican and be a Christian to be a Christian one must believe in the teaching of Jesus Christ
Matthew 7
22 "Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name." 23 But I will reply, "I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God"s laws."
Matthew 10
9 "Don"t take any money in your money belts"no gold, silver, or even copper coins. 10 Don"t carry a traveler"s bag with a change of clothes and sandals or even a walking stick. Don"t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve to be fed.
Numbers 12:6
he said, "Listen to my words: "When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." Deuteronomy 18:22
If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously.

One should never underestimate the ability of Republicans to exploit religion. We've learned that lesson from the biggest hate-monger and propagandist of them all, Karl Rove. Rove knows how to pander to the basest elements, aka, the christianistas in the Republican Party.

The latest Huckabee/Christmas TV message is directed solely at the Iowa evangelicals, the main political bloc that are expected to show up at the polls in January to give him their votes over his less godly rivals.

That's clearly no coincidence nor is it coincidental that Republicans need to revive their old standbys that Democrats want to destroy Christmas and burn all the bibles. That riles up the evangelical base and gets them to the polls with their in-pew registration guidelines that depict Republican Party candidates with halos over their heads while characterizing Democratic Party candidates with horns growing out of their heads. Not that their church is explicitly endorsing any candidate, right?

Christianistas like Huckabee come out every election year with the same TV ads and diatribes selling their snake oil to their pious, self-righteous constituency. They are increasingly becoming more violent and more hostile, spouting the message that the only true Christians are Republicans like them because God put one of His own prophets in the White House in 2000.

Remember, when Bush went to Aqaba, Jordan in November 2003 he told Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas that God told him to smite his enemy so he done went and smit them good. Unfortunately, he has kept on smiting them for the last 4-1/2 years and they just won't stay smitten. What hath God wrought? Only the christianistas seem to know.

TO: Ex-gov Mike Huckabee December 19, 2007

THE CHRISTMAS EMBERS OF DECEMBER

This is the time we remember the Birth of Jesus Christ and the poor.

President Thomas Jefferson liked the poor and wanted to help them. President Thomas Jefferson was known as a friend of the people. He wanted the poor to vote and hold office. President Thomas Jefferson believed and stated,"In a free nation the rich people should not do all the ruling." Historian says this is a wise saying. Ex-gov Huckabee you want to do away with Income tax which is used to help the unfortunate and poor. Social Security which is not charity, but an annuity paid on an insurance policy is where people are trying to privitize it or do away with it. What kind of Christian are you anyways knowing they're trying to take away Social Security who care for the most vulnerable the Blind and aged, and now you want to do away with Income Tax. Jesus healed the blind and sick. I quit evil jobs.

Roger Williams was a Baptist who gave us our first two Religious Tenets and Laws in our U.S. Constitution. He believed in separation of church and state meaning Religious Laws should be separated from Civil Laws. You don't even support religious laws. Christians have the Right to participate in Public Debate policies.

In Providence, Rhode Island on the Church Bell is the inscription,"For freedom of conscience the town was first planted,

Persuasion, not force, was used by the people;

This church is the eldest and has not recanted,

Enjoying and granting bell,Temple, and Steeple.

Let the Lights of Religious and Human Rights glow always in evening for all.

Lets do the two front thing. War on Christmas and a spring offensive on Easter!!!! Easter has been sliding by for far to long.
I'm tired of being a joke around the world. I'm so tired in fact that I am resorting to begging jebus to set these christers straight.

Ron Paul"s comments referring to Sinclair Lewis are interesting. Lewis came of age during the second religious reformation in the United States, which lead to Probation one of the most unpopular laws imposed on the American electorate. Probation largely ignored, gave way to organized crime. Ironically this crop of religious zealots rose to prominence against the backdrop of the decline of the middle class championed by Teddy Roosevelt and ultimately the Great Depression. When people lose hope, they put to much faith in zealots weather religious or in the case of Europe the Fascist. Ironically, another Roosevelt, FDR saved Democracy in the US by giving people hope, and the WPA that made hangs busy, building roads, dams, and even cultural projects that are still in use to this day. Mount Rushmore was a WPA funded project, as well as the dry docks large enough to build the super battleships and carriers which were latter needed to defeat Hitler and the Imperil Japanese. The New Deal created trust again in our banking system, yet FDR"s conservative enemies referred to him as the cripple. Eisenhower wrote to his brother that conservatives of his own party were irrational in there hatred of the New Deal.

What Paul didn"t mention was that Lewis used a fictional war with Mexico to promote fear and nationalism? The Nazis used this concept to great effect which lead to a aggressive preemptive war and secular ideology to impose their will on others not unlike the present day neo-conservatives who are secular and believe that democracy, even there economic theories could be imposed on Iraq.

Few people understand there was a method to Hitler"s madness; the premise of the invasion of the Soviet Union was based on natural resources and a cheap source of labor. He ignored warnings from his own military that the invasion would doom Germany to fighting a disastrous 2 front war, he called them defeatist and traders. Hitler again subverted his own military by changing the original plan, in a failed attempted to capture the oil fields of southern Russia. Sound familiar

The fascination with Ron Paul is dumbfounding.

Everytime I hear him he's spouting "smaller government, smaller government."

What's that, Drown it in the bathtub so that in future when an ice storm knocks out power to millions, it will take even longer to restore?

Don't all you Paulies realize that the government is supposed to aid in running the infrastructure of this land, not put it all up for sale until absolutely nothing is done unless someone turns a profit on it?

Interesting, every time I hear this:

"also takes a not-so-subtle dig at the War on Christmas."

War, war, war! It's all war, everywhere. How pathetic that the word war has become such a delicious buzzword to capitalize on, another christian war president...

Haven't we had a belly full of war shit by now? What a sad affair this country has lowered itself to. Very deserving indeed. Why don't we just declare global war on "all things". We can start with dust bunnies and end with humanity.

America's Nuclear nightmare is just around the corner. If Bush leaves office, which one these Wackos is going to have their finger on the Nuclear trigger.

The scary thing is there are actually people in this US with the mentality to vote for a Huckabee or a Giuliani. It just boggles the mind that people that stupid can figure out how to breathe.

Hitler should have gased the Chritians before he went after the jews.
