White House Fire

AP:

Thick black smoke billowed from a fire Wednesday on the White House compound in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The blaze appeared to be located in Vice President Dick Cheney's suite of ceremonial offices on the second floor of the building. Cheney and President Bush were across the street in the West Wing of the White House when the blaze broke out. It appeared to be under control within an hour.

Definitely a 'Reichstag' moment!

'I don't recall' can now be replaced with 'records were lost in the fire!'

Already ruled unsuspicious.

Bob Dole must have investigated it.

He probably brought in some mattresses from Walter Reed and just let the piss extinguish it.

Please, oh please, oh please - let this be a fire set by those who want justice done. I hope this fire serves to keep the criminal Cheney staff out of their offices long enough to find every possible shred of evidence of their crimes. What a Christmas present that would be!

The reports are saying the fire started in an office of Cheney's. No doubt he will claim executive privilege as to how the fire started even though he claims he isn't in the executive branch, what a putz!

I really don't care for what is being insinuated in this thread, the Bu$h and Cheney administration is above reproach.

Cheney's office? Not to worry. It's just the brimstone.

I certainly do not condone arson, but wouldn't it be great if someone deliberately set this fire to expose the Cheney staff misdeeds that will surely be discovered through investigation of this fire? We can dream, can't we?

CNN is doing its part for the Bush team by announcing that the firefighters have already decided that this fire started in a utility closet. My, they are almost as fast as the people who absolutely knew which 19 men carried out the 9/11 attacks before the end of the day and before any in-depth investigation had begun.

So...one of the most important buildings in the United States doesn't have a sprinkler system? Why do I get the feeling we'll never get a straight answer on why this fire happened?

With the history of this administration's cover-ups of blunders and crimes it would be hard to believe the fire was accidental, even if it was.

Obviously the paper shredders weren’t working fast enough in destroying evidence.

I wonder what kind of effect a fire would have on all the computers there?
