Huckabee Defends Ad: The "Floating Cross Is A Bookshelf.... It's Just Beyond Ridiculous"

Mike Huckabee is making the talk show rounds trying to explain that the floating cross in his Christmas ad is just a bookshelf. He even got conspiratorial on "Today" this morning when he was interviewed by Meredith Vieira. He attempted a joke about looking for coded messages in Morse code when he blinks his eyes as he lamented the uproar of the bookshelf-turned-cross.

That floating cross is a bookshelf.... People are looking for anything in the world. It's so politically incorrect to say "Merry Christmas" anymore.... It's just beyond ridiculous. You can't even say "Merry Christmas" without people getting all sensitive about it.

Hey Hukleberry Bibleboy, YOU are a candidate for president and everything you say and do in any ad is fodder for criticism. The only thing that is ridiculous about this particular issue is that you are trying to use religion as a means to get elected. Thing is he has the largest fundamentalist christian email list in the world. He has probably already emailed all 700 million of them to discuss the "miraculous" appearance of the cross and how secular America hates him for it.

What would Christ say to that? Was changing the subject to Billo's old Marry Christmas lies an honest thing to do. What would you have done? Do you know anyone who was told not to say Merry Christmas at work?

It takes very carefull placement of the lighting to get that much contrast on the front edges without spiling into the shelves themselves.

Huck should have just said. "It was a Christmas message and Christ was already included in the text. So we wanted to include a cross but didn't want to be really in your face about it so the producers decided to incorporate it into the bookshelf.­" At least he would have gotten honesty points.

Huckabee is ridiculous­... and the cross thing is just a great metaphor for how he would be in the White House... a theocratic nutjob with the cross hovering ever so near... validating to his ego that God chose him and the purpose behind every stroke of his pen as he takes am at anyone who doesn't believe as he does.
The fact that he would deny it and handle it by attacking anyone who thought he was pandering to religion as conspiratorial tells us that he know its wrong and that he will deny his faith if it serves his campaign.
He's a very scary piece of work... what a nutjob.
