Bush Administration Denies California Waiver To Slash Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Vehicles

Tailpipe Emissions

The Bush administration Wednesday denied California's bid to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from automobiles, dealing a blow to the state's attempts to combat global warming and prompting an immediate vow from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to take the decision to court.

Environmental Protection Agency administrator Stephen L. Johnson denied the state's request to implement its own landmark law, noting that an energy bill signed by President Bush earlier in the day would go a long way toward reducing emissions throughout the United States. The bill provides the most significant increase in vehicle fuel economy standards in more than three decades.

We here in California don't need the rest of the country to tell us anything. We should secede from the union and put our own troops, not on the Mexican border, but on the Arizona and Nevada border. Lincoln was an idiot when he didn't let the South secede when he had the chance. Arnie is a better leader than anyone running for president, and his wife keeps him honest. We have the 6th biggest economy in the world, and we're tired of paying for the mistakes of the morons in Washington. If Oregon, Washington, and Mexico joined us, we would be almost as big as Russia. As Arnie said: "this looks more like the environmental destruction agency" Long live the terminator!

Arnie is going to sue bush! Are we laughing yet? The idea of a "republican" suing bush because the "republican" doesn't agree with a ruling is something more should have done along the way! Here in Cali-for-nia as Arnie calls it might love our cars and our independence but we also know the truth about climate changes and what needs to be done... I just wish Arnie wasn't a "republican".

More proof that only big corporations have rights under the Bush administration. But individuals can set their own standards. Walk. Bicycle. Carpool. And who says we have to buy American cars? This is heartbrakin news but the fight isn't over yet. Do whatever you can now to keep your own standards and vote for candidates who understand Science.

The EPA should change its name to the Environmental Destruction Agency. This Administration can no longer hide or spin its devotion to corporate welfare to big oil and protection of our dying auto industry.

Our dismal balance of trade is due in large measure to uncompetitive industries that manufacture durable good that are now inferior to foreign made model and spend nothing to improve our technology. We are being left in the dust.

We need a radical change in policy. NOW!

You go Arnold... doing the right thing and make it stick. Bushies are the enemies of environmentalism and represent the greed that drives global warming. Of course they want to keep the status quo... its all about their money.

Let's secure the borders, California's. Stop all cars at Nevada, Arizona, Oregon as well. No Ca plate you can't come in unless you are on a bicycle.

Bush and his group have been re writing science reports since they got in office because it's all bad news to them and who would want to have that tied to them? Their inability to see the future goess along with their inability to know history and how that would have prevented the mistakes they keep making. If they knew and read history the wars made would not have been as it isn't anything but history repeated itself. The huge chunks of the poles melting they just view as an Al Gore movie and not real. Sad we are stuck with this group until they leave office as the damage they can do in one day adds up when you count the time they have left to mess up more. Every day the climate is ignored puts us way behind the 8 ball in what could have been done if someone had a voice in our government.

Surprise, Surprise, the Bush Administration's Environmental Protection Agency, whose only job is to PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT, is siding with the Auto Industry! Ha! It is so ridiculous it is laughable! I think it is amusing that Republicans are so supportive of States Rights when it comes to ending abortions and flying the confederate flag (not to mention slavery and jim crow) but when it comes to saving Earth, they think California is just taking it too far. What kind of selfish, stupid, greedy, self-absorbed, non-believer-in-science would try to stop the Governator? Oh thats right, our King George, the mentally challenged worst-president-ever. Impeach, I say, IMPEACH.

If it wasn't for California LEADING THIS NATION in limiting pollution from automobiles, OUR AIR WOULD LOOK LIKE CHINA's.

GET A GRIP, Rebuttlickans, cleaning up the environment is good for America, creates jobs, and ITS GOOD FOR BUSINESS!
