President Bush gave an end of the year press conference today. Amid questions about congressional spending, the CIA tape investigation and the Iraq war, Bush was asked what he thought about TIME magazine's choice to name Russian President Vladimir Putin as its Person of the Year.

Bush responded, "You know I'm looking forward to seeing him at the alumni meeting of the men of the year...or the Persons of The Year. I don't know when it's going to be, but... " Bush was TIME's Person of The Year in 2000 and 2004.

See the video:

Just like this year's choice of Putin, TIME magazine's Person of the Year selections have been controversial in the past. The alumni party that Bush is referring to would include Adolf Hitler (1938), Joseph Stalin (1939 and 1942), Ayatollah Khomeini (1979) and Nikita Kruschev (1957). Some of the positive members have been The American Soldier (2003), The Good Samaritans (2005), and last year's choice: You!

Rather than celebrating Russia's Putin & America's Bush, Time Magazine should be apologizing for them.

I can see it now, Putin and Bush will share a table, the waiter will ask Putin what he is having and Putin will say the steak, then the waiter will ask about the vegetable and Putin will say the vegetable will have the steak too!

Why does Putin appear much less presidential than Bush? Time people are not only ignorant (they started interviewing Putin by quoting his wrong birth-day '46 instead of '52) - they also have a bad taste..

So much for man of the year and Time`s choices, Bush , they chose one time with absolutely no reservation.

This year Putin, somehow sids stepped one of their own "Gore ", the Nobel Laureate and chose Putin instead ! Then, they could not even find a decent picture of the Russian, this one makes him look like a criminal.

Ow, the scrubbers are getting out of control.

They just wiped out all the responses from Vogons to my defense spending thing. They weren't that unreasonable, and we were having a good discussion.

This isn't good.

On the other hand, I have a name for the scrubbers that should be familiar to anyone who ever read Stephen King.

Let's call them ... wait for it ... the Langoliers.

I am proud, truly. Thank you all, it really does mean a lot to me to know that my impact is this strong on all of you.
Considering the makeup and demographics of the esteemed panel I couldn't be more pleased to be the recipient of this award.
You know what they say about aiming high.
Will there be a ceremony as well?

Holy Great Spirit! The native Americans are trying to acquire a nuclear weapon! The US must bomb them(again) to protect our friends in the Middle East.

Can't wait for Bu$h to join his fellow criminals as they rot in Hell. Of course, some might consider Crawford, Texas to BE that Hell.

What Bush really meant was that he can't wait for his number to come up at the Fletcher Memorial Home:

take all your overgrown infants away somewhere
and build them a home
a little place of their own
the fletcher memorial
home for incurable tyrants and kings
and they can appear to themselves every day
on closed circuit t.v.
to make sure they're still real
it's the only connection they feel

"ladies and gentlemen, please welcome reagan and haig
mr. begin and friend
rs. thatcher and paisley
mr. brezhnev and party
the ghost of mccarthy
the memories of nixon
and now adding colour a group of anonymous latin
american meat packing glitterati"

did they expect us to treat them with any respect
they can polish their medals and sharpen their
smiles, and amuse themselves playing games for a while
boom boom, bang bang, lie down you're dead
safe in the permanent gaze of a cold glass eye
with their favourite toys
they'll be good girls and boys
in the fletcher memorial home for colonial
wasters of life and limb
is everyone in?
are you having a nice time?
now the final solution can be applied

(Pink Floyd, from "The Final Cut")
