To be brutally honest, I dont think CT particularly likes being alive. His complaints are becoming a tad pathological.

I'd be inclined to give the guy a pass on this one. So he doesn't like to go to work: Who does? Some athletes, some musicians, some actors, some fortunate ordinary folks. His comments are kind of refreshingly honest, and could open up a dialogue about how Americans really feel about their work lives. If asked how I like my job, I always answer positively cuz I don't want to be an employee with a bad attitude. But, for real, how many individuals actually like going to work? 9-to-10 hour workdays. Weekend work you take home to try to keep up, wedged between the household work that must be done, like shopping for groceries and laundry and paying bills and cleaning house. A paycheck that doesn't look anything like the gross you agreed to. If you're lucky enough to have benefits, you can't take the time off to go to the doctor anyway. . . `Course, it helps a whole lot if you are good at what you do, and he's not. Where's a system that helps the individual to define his natural interests, and encourages her to pursue those interests, and benefits from his/her natural talents? Mr. Thomas is both pathetic and dangerous. But this particular comment is not all that offensive, IMHO.
Well if Justice Thomas hates being a Supreme Court judge and a majority of Americans hate him being a Supreme ourt judge then he should retire and it would be one of life's few truly win-win situation!
The Times reporter who dished out the dirt on Anita Hills allegations of Sexual harrassment during Thomas's confirmation hearing later admitted that he lied about Anita Hill.. In an editorial saying he was coerced by the Neo Cons. I forget his name tho..
So we have the Neo Con Parasites infesting all departments of the Executive Branch including the Justice Department where the Neo Con Lawyers, Judges and Prosecutors were stealthily emplaced replacing the Politically Fired Non Partisan career Lawyers, Judges and Prosecutors... To aid and abet the Gutting, Usurping, and Crapping on the same United States Constitution the Founding Fathers fought and died for.
And further aided and abetted by the Morally and Legally bankrupt as well as Conflict of Interest and Collusion challenged United States Supreme Court Justices.
It will take a Revolution as well as lice removal medication to RID ourselves of these Neo Con Parasites as well as the Religious Idiots who are trying to shove their bastardized version of Christianity down our throats.
Remember these Treasonous Scumbags are supported by their fellow Neo Cons, Republican Mushrooms who are kept in the dark and fed feces by the Neo Con News Media and Communications Conglomerates in COLLUSION with the Bush Administration, as well as the Religious Idiots and who comprise the 11%-21% of American Citizens supporting these Benedict Arnolds and Tories.
This man has a lot of hatred in his heart. He would do the US a good thing by retiring and finding a nice little plot of land with a nice home secluded in the country side making a list of people who wronged him and why his life sucks.
Another prime example of how progressos will justify their most despicable character flaws (actually they all are) by being all compassionate libtards...Racism is justified, Homophobia is justified ,Sexism is justified and approved , anti-semitism and anti Christian justified. The party of diversity and tolerance???
With all due respect, your Honor, a lot of people WOULD say they dont like you being a Supreme Court justice.
Thomas is a man with a lot of personal issues that are for some reason coming to the surface. He bares watching. If I was on the court I would be watching my back...
He said: "There"s not much that entices about the job. There"s no money in it, no privacy, no big houses, and from an ego standpoint, it does nothing for me."
What an excellent comment on the current state of politics. Everyone in it for money and celebrity, not because they have any desire to serve the public or the nation. The expectation—the reason for attaining high office—is that your rewards are financial and material. And all the while, you get to be a hands-off social butterfly.
I'm glad he said it. It's a strong argument for public campaign financing—I realize he wasn't elected, but we're talking about the same crowd. Let's get this selfish, prima donna clique out of power by taking the money and the ego out of public service.
I have to say, I am really shocked by the number and level of disgusting racist remarks posted on this board.
I am by no means a fan of Thomas. He is a whiny, petulant child playing dress-up in a judges robe. His readiness to accept affirmative action assistance and then complain and attempt to deny the same those who come after him is truly reprehensible. His incindiary use of the word "lynching" to describe the reasonable investigation into accusations made against him was an affront to all the people throughout history who have actually suffered the real consequences of systematic racism.
But, none of that in any way justifies the openly racist, hate-filled diatribes posted on this board. I am really disheartened that after years of saying "it's not all about race" I find that for many people, even those who call themselves liberals and claim to espouse ideals of equality, when it comes right down to it, it really is still all about race. I am sickened.
Resign you turd! And then there will not be time for Dumbya to appoint another regressive jackass.
First, Thomas brought a lot of this on himself when he published his silly book. The Supremes don't like their laundry flapping in the winds or our media outlets.
Second, the information that is slowly coming from Thomas suggests that there is either pressure from within to give him the boot, and / or Bush 41 and 43 are encouraging him to leave so 43 can replace him with Alito II.
The net effect is that moderates and liberals have to hope Thomas does not resign before 43 is sordid history.
This is shaping up to be a very, very serious matter.
He'd retire but then he wouldn't be able to harrass women while wearing a robe - super convenient.
Things go better with Coke!
Perhaps we ought to applaud Justice Thomas' confessional honesty. It may be the weight of years catching up with him but it indicates, at least, some degree of reflection.
It has a certain kind of honesty about it, an honesty no white politician or jurist is likely to display, no matter how fucked up they are. They get to disappear and be forgotten until it is time for them to be dredged up or resurrected.
Richard M. Nixon declared himself "not a crook" and eventually wound up resigning from the hightest office in the land. He claimed nothing. He just left.
At least Thomas gets a kind of last laugh here, no matter what, you'll have to wait for him to leave.
Hey, Clarence, there is a remedy for your unrest -- RESIGN! Consider doing so immediately, don't waste another precious second of your miserable life. You might not be aware of the opinions of the rest of us citizens, but we're not happy with you as a Justice, either. So, you resigning would be a win-win. What a way to start the New Year!
