Jamie Lynn Zoey

AP:

Nickelodeon is considering a special for its young audience about sex and love following the news that 16-year-old "Zoey 101" star Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.

The television network has made no announcement about the future of "Zoey 101," its popular program aimed primarily at youngsters aged 9-14. Filming for the show's fourth and final season has finished, and episodes are scheduled to begin airing in February.

For the special, Nickelodeon said it's talking with Linda Ellerbee, the veteran newswoman who has stepped in frequently in the past with shows on talking to children about difficult issues in the news. She's done shows about same-sex parents, AIDS, the Columbine shooting and President Clinton's impeachment scandal.

So not one watches Degrassi: The Next Generation which is shown on The N, part of the Nickelodeon network as well as it is syndincated.

Just shock that people are spinning this as a money maker. please any kid type network would do such a think...Come to think of it, any way it is spun, mean it dosen't look any good for Nick it self.

Hate to say it but she just fits the stereotype-
White southern trailer trash.

Thank God birth control is illegal in her home town. How stupid can she be? Did anyone explain to her how sex and babies are related? The worst part is that she is sixteen and stupid and she will give birth to another hillbilly.

They should do a special on Statutory RAPE. Will he not be prosecuted because Unfitney, Jr. is a celebri-tramp?

If Nick had any foresite at all, they'd have gotten some kind of insurance policy for just this situation, given her sister's behavior.

Not to worry... If your kid is a teenager and still watching Nickleodeon they are not running the risk of "getting any" anytime soon.

When Ms. Spears said she was "shocked" to discover she was pregnant, the implication was her birth control failed. Why isn't that being addressed? I find it hard to believe an actress in Hollywood does not know where babies come from, or how they are made.

Because of their wealth they won't have the troubles most young single mothers have. Their way of life won't change much. We have to remember most young mothers are not successful entertainers.

This is a fact sheet on teen sexuality. http://www.kff.org/youthhivstds/upload/U-S-Teen-Sexual-Activity-Fact-Sheet.pdf

74% of teenage girls have a partner that is within 1-3 years of their age. Casey is not a pervert or a rapist and he does not deserve to be called one. He is a kid who had sex with his girlfriend he has been seeing for 3 years, and apparently they spent most of that 3 years *not* having sex. What in the world is unnatural, slutty, or perverted about two kids who grew up together and after 3 years started (unwisely) having sex? Bad decisions and lack of commitment to moral standards regarding sex aren't "good", but people should not be given an opportunity to turn things into crimes that just simply are not crimes. How do we know it was Casey who influenced Jamie Lynn to have sex anyway?

The median age of first intercourse is 16 for boys, 17 for girls. Jamie Lynn is not at all unusual.

Are there only two choices? Say "all is well" or send Casey to jail and Jamie Lynn away to hide? Of course not. This is a real situation that needs a human response, not hysterical reactions from people who aren't any better at thinking through the consequences of their decisions than the teenagers. Casey has a right to be involved in this baby's life. How well will that work when he's been in jail instead of being allowed to step up to his responsibilities?

Nobody on this board has bothered to think of anything at all, they've just thrown out some hateful knee-jerk reaction. Poor kids who go through this on their own with people like this.

"Point being, your children should not be discussing this."

Because if they don't discuss it, they won't think about it and they won't do it. Because the only thing that makes teenagers think about sex is corrupt Nickelodeon shows. Because the only thing a child should hear from their parent regarding sex is "bad, shameful, no", there should never be any honest discussions about real people and real consequences for making adult decisions without taking adult precautions. How can anyone possibly believe that?

My oldest daughter is 17, and to imagine that this is even a topic of discussion for her peer group is grossly naive. We are in a "good" school district, and despite that, there are currently seven girls in their senior year who are *married*, there are four girls in the school who are pregnant, and about 75% of the senior class has lost their virginity.

Not only that, but in contrast to when I was in school, many, many kids are openly gay and engage in public displays of affection in the hallways.

The kids who need to talk about and process this subject are the 11-year olds. The 17 and 18 year olds in high school have already formed their morals.

And as for the kids being treated like dirt the rest of their lives, maybe, if nobody supports them and helps them educate themselves and establish themselves. You are very, very wrong to think that all young mothers (and fathers) fail to make something of their lives. That is more dependent on socioeconomic status than anything.

You should tell them the truth, nobody will call them whores, on the contrary nobody will care about them. There won’t be any million dollar book or picture deals and their older boyfriend will probably go to jail and be on the sexual predator registry for the rest of his life, but he wont probably be an issue because in real life kids don't come with monetary rewards.

They will work for nothing and be treated like shit for the rest of their lives. Their kid will have problems just because it grows up in poor household living in lower income housing.

No parent should call their child names or reject them, of course, but I can tell you a gazillion stories of kids I knew, that once they came out of the closet their parents threw them out and cut contact with them. I know straight kids are treated much the same.

Also tell them if you use sex to sell yourself, , especially underage sex, as it the ONLY selling point for which the Spears family fortune was founded on, then yes, you may be called a whore form time to time.

Point Being, Your kids probably shouldn’t be discussing this.

Thank the marketing genus of the spears family.

I dare you judge me for calling them out on this. They are sluts and users of the worst kind.

It is breathtaking to listen to the overwhelming hatred and vitriol spewing from you pieces of trash. You are what you judge others to be, and you people are truly useless scum.

I find it interesting to listen to what the kids are saying about this. They sound nothing like the worthless pieces of crap with bank accounts and adult responsibilities who think it's fun and perfectly acceptable to tear this young girl apart.

My 11-year old tells me it's not a big topic of discussion, but of the kids who are talking about it, they are concerned about Zoey. They understand the seriousness of what happened. They worry about her, and most interesting, wonder if their parents will start calling them "whores" if they ever make a mistake like this.

How profound. You "great parents" who are shrilly shrieking for Zoey 101 to go hide in a convent away from your precious children are conveying the message to your children that they may be treated like that by you someday if they were to make the same mistake, or even a less serious mistake. Wow. Way to go. Way to indoctrinate your children. Great job. Really works well.

That'll be cool. A show on rape on nick... in both California, and Spears' home state of Lousianna, this was, and continues to be, statutory rape.

Neat how that will spin I think....
