CNN:

Angry Chinese officials are taking aim at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama over his statement that he would "stop the import of all toys from China."

The Illinois senator's remarks, which came at an Iowa campaign stop Wednesday, were "unobjective, unreasonable and unfair," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told reporters at a Thursday briefing. "Imagine if the quality of American products was not 100 percent up to standard. Could we take that as a reason to totally ban U.S. products?"

WOW. Obama ought to publicize their displeasure. His poll numbers would shoot up immediately. I was wondering: exactly what kind of communist society is this?

Santa agrees with Senator Obama.

There is no "Ho-Ho-Ho" in supporting cheap lead

painted toys from China.

WalMart are you listening to Santa? When over 90% of

your store products come from China, don't YOU have

the responsibility to guarantee the quality?

How dare Obama demand safe products for Americans, why that is so naive. Doesn't he know that he should pander and pretend that China is our friend and has our best interest at heart? We should just continue to recall toys and ignore the safety issues, it's what a more experienced candidate would recommend.

Why is this news? Why do some people have problems with this point of view?

Communist China sends poisoned food, defective tires, lead painted toys, fish filled with pesticides and who know what else to the USA.

Are we supposed to spend more tax dollars to hire more inspectors? Bullshit on that idea!

Part of the reason that the cost of communist Chinese products is so low is that they don't spend money inspecting what they send to the US. Why should the burden be on US taxpayers.

I say FUCK COMMUNIST CHINA. Any questions?

Look for more donations from the Communists to the Clintons. Just like when Slick Willie was in office.

A fine example of Obama's inexperience if I've ever seen one.

You can accomplish practically the same thing with finesse. Obama has big mouth and remember "loose lips sink ships".

Obama is right. Why are we buying cheap dangerous products from China? Boycott all Chinese made goods. They are no good for America. Bring back manufacturing to America and let the Chinese rot in their polluted hell hole.

This is the fundamental problem with the inexperience of Obama. Rather than suggest stricter inspection mechanisms on say all imports, Obama wants to ban toy imports from China. In response maybe China, who holds all of this banana republic worthless US paper says we are banning all investment in dollars. This radically deflates our currency, shoots interest rates to the moon, squeezes out the last drops of liquidity in our markets, sends energy prices through the roof. Our vulnerability is a direct result of seven irresponsibly stupid years of US fiscal policy under George W Moron but those are the cards we are now dealt. All we need is another reckless cowboy in the whitehouse and we will all be completely screwed.

This is not a suprise, because in 2005, before he announced his candidacy, Obama introduced the Lead Free Toys Act (S. 2048), requiring the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to ban any children's product containing lead.

So he's being consistent, and I like that.

Yes, China is doing a little face-saving and I doubt they're all that upset - they know exactly what Obama meant and realize they need to clean up their act. They don't like getting called out like that, but that seems to be the most effective way to get their attention.
See this is going to play out just like how the whole Pakistan discussion and the whole "talk with world leaders we don't like" discussion did. First, Clinton News Network does a sloppy ass reporting, not including the full quote and the context of it, the Chinese respond in "uproar" and then Clinton and company have time to come up with a well-finessed statement that demonstrates their "experience" and will undoubtedly try to call Obama "inexperienced". Nevermind it's Obama, who has the audacity to call attention to a serious problem that is killing and maiming American children/pets and offer a very firm way of dealing with it - stop the import of (unsafe) Chinese products. The talking heads will yap about. (Forgot how our beef got banned in parts of Asia during the mad cow disease scare?!?) Days if not weeks will pass by before the trade and health & safety folks will all nod their heads - yes, what Obama said needed to be said and they will applaud his leadership on the issue. Of course the Clintonians will howl "he's all talk and no action -how come he hasn't pushed any legislation on the issue?" Can't the brother say ANYTHING without having to pass legislation for it? And besides, when was "you know who" planning to talk about it? After Obama or someone else brought up the issue?
The primaries can't be over soon enough. Getting real sick of the stupidity.

China knows if Obama becomes president the most favorite trade agreement is gone. We will treat them just like everybody else. They know the writing is on the wall. They know he means what he says. The are scare of him. He would place the same standards as we agreed with Peru. They have to bring their product up to our standards.

What do you think would happen to you or me if we had a little factory in the US that was found to be cutting corners and using lead paint or poisoning dog food? We would be in jail so fast our heads would spin.

I think it's being too soft on kids. Never too
soon for Junior to start learning about hazards,
make sure to get him some asbestos gloves and
the Lil' Respirator today! Yes, that has lead
paint on it, too, but it'll clock him down
to where Publik Skul won't be too insanity-inducing...
