Letterman Strike Beard

AP:

David Letterman doesn't even need writers to have fun with this one.

The late-night comic's representatives met with striking writers on Friday in an attempt to reach a deal that will allow the "Late Show" to return to the air with its writing staff.

All the Writers Guild of America would say about the meeting: "A lively exchange of information took place." It was reminiscent of diplomat-speak for argumentative talks between hostile countries: "A frank exchange of views."

What these writers and stars fail to realize is that there is no huge outcry for the strike to be settled. The only people who care are the people involved.

Unions are a dying breed in this country. Only 7.4 percent of the non-government work force belongs in a union. All they care about is their own survival, not the people they represent.

The strike is revealing what a sham these talk show hosts have become. Their talent and motivation drained years before, now they just spoiled and fluffy with nothing to say. Poor babies!!

I'm sorry to hear that Worldwide Pants couldn't work out an agreement. I've been supporting the WGA but this move is baffling. I don't understand this move unless the union's motives aren't Dave's been doing more than any of the other late night host/producer's to support his staff and crew. He deserves a break.

Will it Float ?
(With it float with scabs?)
(Will it float with Dave looking like Santa and scabs ?)
(Will Paul still be able to laugh at scab jokes ?)
How about scabs, scabs, scabs and Biff ?
Stay tuned ( Scab watcher)

Dave Letterman is happy only when he's laughing at someone else's expense and pain. Now the tables are turned and Ol'Dave doesn't find it all that funny!

when the late show and letterman -- who have supported the strike -- reach out and try to strike a deal with the wga and can't, you know the wga simply doesn't want to make a deal.

with all the late night guys heading back and all the networks announcing spring schedules, the strike becomes less and less relevant and even less effective.
