The military vowed to continue operations on both sides of Turkish-Iraqi border "no matter how the conditions are."

Can't you see DICK rubbing his hands together and saying "Excellent"- so Monty Burns. W. a great Smithers
Or
Pinky and the Brain
Which ever.. they both play

They may as well start booking the Super arena venues around the country if we hope to get through all the high profile corruption and treason trials in our lifetime. In fact they may want to clear the books now for '08- they'll be guaranteed sell out crowds!Imagine if we held Cheney's war crime trials in WY- that would kick up state revenues. We've got the Silver Dome available for all those public servants who've spent the last few decades in the Auto/Oil Industries pockets, screwing the citizens of our great state and others (states & countries). They have kept US, and sold US, as the Middle Easts bitches,DECADES!!!
Stunned by the enormity of the visual of 9/11 and the overwhelming realization of what it meant in lives - shocking.
But that we were always susceptible to domestic attacks by those who hate US. Not a surprise. We've been watching this build to it's crescendo since the '70's.We even had the red flags of homegrown psychos.
Why are we treated like amnesiacs. I was a teenageer- and can still see tht man's body laying on th e tarmack. High jackings, bombings, killings everywhere (IRA too) seemed at least every week.
If the idiots haven't seen this coming- they should be in public office.

Our foreign policy is based on tactics, not strategy. We don't care what your agenda might be, but if you use guerrilla tactics to try to achieve it, you will be stopped. If you have warplanes, go right ahead.

No surprise here. It was pretty clear from his coronation in summer 2000, that the Supreme Soviet Czar Chancellor Herr Bush II would follow in the very same footsteps of his dear old daddy. Invade Iraq and create a mess, attack the Kurds after telling them you'd help them, pardon your buddies and family members out of their scandalous (and traitorious) troubles..... just par for the course for the most evil family to ever be allowed to breed in these Divided States of Amerika.

Little Miss Muffet garbled: The USA joins Turkey in not liking Kurdish ways. The USA has assumed the spider's role by saying, "What are you doing, bitch?". Will the Kurdish curds become toasted turds when the US bombs dropped by Turkey from US made planes hit? We have a real shit storm in Iraq-don't we?

Well, at least someone is bombing someone. I was afraid that Christmas season would pass us by and no one would bomb.

The Kurds have been around since the time of Alexander the Great, and they still haven't learned that if the mighty USA is anywhere around, the last thing you do is name your party The Workers Party, for cripes sake!

The events the United States has set in motion with its invasion of Iraq will minimally have a regional impact in the Middle East. Turkey and Iran have for years been at loggerheads over many issues (Iranian support for the Turkish Islamists, conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia) but the foremost problem between them concerns northern Iraq. The conflict in Iraqi Kurdistan has the potential to create a serious confrontation between Iran and Turkey. Rivalry between Turkey and Iran (Ottoman and Safavid Empires) has existed for over five centuries.

Then you have the Arab states becoming increasingly suspicious of Turkey's ulterior motives in attacking northern Iraq, whose ownership of oil fields it has claim in the past. The Arabs, who endured a 500-year long Ottoman rule until the end of World War I, see the development of Turkey into a regional military and economic power, as a bad sign and may even fear Turkish permanent occupation of northern Iraq.

There is a vaccum of any leadership capability in Iraq. This has brought about a greater instability in that region and a repositioning by countries there for greater power.

This reminds me of a game I played as a child called, "Mouse Trap". Once you set the 'trap' in motion all you had to do was sit back and watch how all the components worked together in trapping the mouse.

We are helping them fight over there so we can fight over there.

Iranian forces also claimed to have killed 17 rebels described as "mercenary elements" in clashes near the Turkish border, which is a stronghold of the Pejak, a Kurdish militant party linked to Turkey's outlawed PKK Kurdistan Workers' Party.

John Pike, the head of the influential Global Security think tank in Washington, said: "The activities of the ethnic groups have hotted up over the last two years and it would be a scandal if that was not at least in part the result of CIA activity." Someone will come on here any minute now and tell you Turkey isn't bombing the Kurds, it is bombing the PKK.

We can tell cause......well .... you know.... the Kurds that are members of the PKK wear those lapel pins and beanies with the PKK flags sticking out of the top.

Our British allies declared southern Iraq stable and are pulling their troops out. Bush thanked them and called the withdrawal a sign of progress. Conditions in Southern Iraq are now deteriorating.

Our Tukish allies say our Kurdish allies in northern Iraq support, train, arm and provide safe harbor to terrorists. They say Kurdish terrorists are equipped with U.S. supplied weapons. They notified the White House of their intentions to attack Iraq, a (sovereign?)nation presently under U.S. protection. Bush asked them not to kick out from under us the one stable leg supporting our wobbly three-legged stool in Iraq. He also said the U.S. would not retaliate if our Turkish allies attacked our Kurdish allies.

The U.S. military surge temporarily reduced violence in central Iraq.

Why does the liberal media refuse to cover the good things happening in Iraq.?

A bit off thread: Could a user of HP direct me & others obsessed about air craft trivia to a sight which lists the type of air craft Turkey used for this raid? ie F-16, F-4, etc. An educated quess would do since I doubt if the Turks release such information & probably try to keep it secret.

The U.S. is helping Turkey with Iraqi air targets.

The U.S. is not interfering with Turk ground attacks on Iraqi soil.

The U.S. will soon be giving Turkey access to control of Iraqi oil from the north. (Which flows into Turkey via Turkish pipelines to the Med.)

Why?

The U.S. and Israel need Turk air access and airfield support to attack Iran. Also, Turkey has started doing business with Iran and increased military hardware purchases from Russia.

The U.S. must allow Turkey to kill more Kurds than Saddam to make this deal work.

What was one of the lesser reasons Bush/Cheney used to justify their attack on Iraq?

What happened to the people of our once great nation?
