AP:

For Carson Daly, the phrase "the show must go on" has taken on a whole new significance. "An ultimatum was put in front of me," Daly told the Los Angeles Times of his decision to return to host NBC's "Last Call With Carson Daly" during a continuing writers' strike. "It was, 'Put a new show on Dec. 3 or 75 people are fired. What's your answer?'"

Daly said he quickly decided he couldn't live with putting loyal staffers out of work, the newspaper reported Monday. When asked who at NBC delivered the ultimatum, Daly said it was his "immediate bosses" but wouldn't be more specific.

Carson Daly...wasn't he a kewl guy from MTV that turned out to have the same talent and cool as any other pre-fabed creation...like Ashley Simpson's real singing talent. Scab.

Poor Carson... All he had to do is say to NBC, which I don't believe ever gave him an ultimatum, to fire away... Then it's NBC that takes the hit for firing 75 people, not a goofball like Carson Daly... So now he tries to make himself look like a hero... Well, folks, he ain't. He's just another opportunist who cares nothing for anyone but himself. Boo on you... D.

NBC could have scored the highest ratings they have had in late nite TV for years if they would just have shown Johnny Carson instead od all these wannabee subpar replacement advertising hacks.

The proper response to NBC's (GE's) ultimatum was for Daly to look them in the eye and say:

"I'm not a SCAB ... find yourself another boy."

Daly made a choice to cross the picket line. He has to live with that choice and the long term ramifications of it.

Why does this guy even have a show anyway? Cute does not equal funny. In the name of all that's good and pure - where's the talent?

Aw, what a scab whore! My guess is that 'pretty boy' does not grasp the ramifications of a bona fide strike. At some point one can't fault the corporations. It's the spineless, insincere phonies who cave in and undermine the strikers who hold the power eventually. Their millions will help ease their guilt, I'm sure.

You were a SOS when you screwed the writers and you're an even bigger SOS now using your staff as your scapegoat.

Don't you get it. You were told to resume your show so NBC would then have an excuse to fire you. Nobody respects a scab. As soon as your ratings bottom out, you're toast.

It is wrong to say "NBC" this and "NBC" that.

The appropriate acronym is "GE".

Carson Daly is a scab. Jay Leno is a scab.

I really like Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert, so they are not scabs.

I don't care what this douche bag's excuse is...he should have said no and had some fucking self respect. Instead he choose to bend over to the NBC brass and become a SCAB.

There is no middle ground. Carson Daly is a coward and a no talent dirtbag, he should apologize publicly and admit he was wrong, or he should be blacklisted....fuck him.

Hmmm...

After he sees that HIS decision was the wrong one, he tries to scapegoat someone else for it.

What a tool.

NBC, another acronym-network station facing the
beginning of the end of their information and
entertainment content monopoly...

I never want to see people lose their jobs. On the other hand why not move them to another show. And he can just go back to radio and the millions he makes from his record label. Face it, NBC Universal. He's NEVER be another Dick Clark. So give it up already.
