President Bush, still voicing concern about special project spending by Congress, signed a $555 billion bill Wednesday that funds the Iraq war well into 2008 and keeps government agencies running through next September.

Bush's signed the massive spending bill as he flew on Air Force One to his Texas ranch here to see in the new year. His signature on the legislation caps a long-running fight with the Democratic-run Congress.

What was truly disgusting is that 9000 earmarks and 10 billion worth of additional spending attached to the bill.

Glad to see the Democratic "leadership" taking the November, 2006 elections seriously. Glad to see they're really taking such a hardline stance with Chimpy. They disgust me and they've made my switch to an Independent all that much easier ...

And the Demorats run down the halls of congress on the way to their offices with their tails between their legs. Once again they not only give into Bush, they give in overwhelmingly to him.

"Democrat-controlled Congress" is an oxymoron.

"...ho ho ho, who wouldn't know.....ho ho ho...who wouldn't kno-ow....up on the housetops, boom boom boom....Iraq's a little Halliburton-managed tomb..."

There's a special place in hell for the architects of this bloodbath.

BIDEN-BROWNBACK Measure Calling for U.S. to Support a Federal Iraq Heads to President for his Signature and BIDEN Plan for Iraq Emerges as Consensus, Bipartisan Path toward Ending War

Biden Efforts to Bar Permanent Bases in Iraq and Protect Troops with Mine Resistant Vehicles Also Included in Report

Washington, DC " Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) and Senator Sam Brownback"s (R-KS) legislation calling for the U.S. to support a decentralized Iraq passed today as part of the final Department of Defense Authorization report. The measure " which has garnered overwhelming bipartisan support in both Houses of Congress " calls on the President to make a major strategic shift in the Administration"s pursuit of a political settlement in Iraq.

"It"s time for this President to listen," said Senator Joe Biden. "We now have both sides of the aisle, both sides of the U.S. Capitol, saying to the President: abandon this flawed strategy of yours and change course. Everyone agrees that there is no pure military solution in Iraq. There has to be a political solution and that begs the question: what is it? Today, the Congress answered that question with one voice."...

Senator Biden has also been a long-time advocate of barring the construction of any permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq. Last year, he successfully passed two amendments as part of the Defense Authorization bill and Defense Appropriations bill, which prohibited using any funds to build permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq or to exercise American control over Iraqi oil. Both bills were signed into law, marking the first clear sign from Congress that the American military presence in Iraq would not be open-ended.

Senator Biden's effort to protect our troops by ensuring that the Pentagon builds and deploys more mine resistant vehicles " which are proven to decrease deaths and injuries from roadside bombs by 67 to 80 percent " also was successful.

This is OFF TOPIC; but there seems to be alot of off and on topic going on here, so I'm gonna have at it...and I don't even expext any response...I'm just corked!!!!!!!!!!!

I like football, okay?? ALOT!!! BUT.....

There's this on-going battle with the NFL Network; that shows ALL games; and cable companies that are only allowed to show select games. (Bear with me here!)

We're talking BIG business to be taken care of in the House & Senate lately, right?? Wondering when these jerk-offs we elected are gonna get off their hind ends, right??

News blurb tonite...Leahy & Spector sent a letter to the NFL - PRESSURING them to show the Patriots game on Saturday night, or they would review their anti-trust agreement.

Now I'm real glad the Pats are undefeated so far, and may make NFL history and all that...but the next time we wonder what the hell the House Judiciary Committee is up to; where are their priorities...Well; don't ask!!!!!!

The myth of the war economy

Joseph Stiglitz
January 22, 2003

'Bush's (admittedly wavering) commitment to fiscal prudence means that much, perhaps most, of the war costs will be offset by cuts elsewhere. Investments in education, health, research, and the environment will almost inevitably be crowded out. Accordingly, war will be unambiguously bad in terms of what really counts: ordinary people's standard of living.'

Need Mr. Stiglitz say more? Why, yes, I guess he does:

'Some suggest that the US may be going to war to advance its oil interests. Few can doubt the influence that oil interests have on President Bush - witness the administration's energy policy, with its emphasis on expanding oil production rather than conservation.'

Oh my goodness gracious! Who could have predicted things would turn out as they have?

Santa was very generous to the President and the troops and it looks like the libs got their usual lumps of coal, the ones where if you look closely enough you can see the image of Al Gore.

If only we could pull the vile, rotting corpse of Ronald Reagan from Satan's eternal grasp.

He'd show those libs a thing or two about masterful leadership and decades of prosperity.

Of course the Democratic Congress is in no hurry to pull their precious earmarks from the bill are they? Liberals cry and moan about Bush signing his war funding bill but there's not a peep about the wasted money inserted by Dems. A-Holes!
