John Edwards tried to shore up his New Hampshire support Wednesday with promises of fighting the establishment, changing Washington -- and even speaking with a Southern accent.

The former North Carolina senator, on a 300-mile, one-day campaign tour through New Hampshire, stuck to populist themes for what he hopes will be an Edwards presidency.

The candidate who stands out in this time of crisis will be the candidate who does not look like they are merely taking advantage of tragedy.
Ohg.

Huffpo Editors: Try.....just try....to get responsible, and change this bullshit headline so that it reflects, in some remote sense, what Mr. Edwards actually said.

This site's becoming a gossip rag.

Edwards does not have experience in foreign affairs.
Clinton does not have experience in foreign affairs.
Obama does not have experience in foreign affairs.

Biden, Dodd and perhaps Richardson have relevant experience.

So let's stop all of the malarkey about does Hillary have more experience than Barak - because a little more than zero is still pretty close to zero.

If experience is the most important factor, then the Democrats must nominate Biden.

I am really disappointed in HuffPO as a result of this posting. Where in the article did Edwards EVER say that he, "...sounds like a President." The article only quotes him as saying that some of the most recent Presidents had the same southern twang/drawl that he has. How does that equal the headline attribution? This headline lead is something I would expect from FauxNews or any other rightwing media outlet only interested in a catchy, hit-and-run-smear blurb without any substance. HuffPo readers deserve better. It's your website and you're entitled to be all ga-ga over Obama, but I think you've taken your bias too far this time.

It's amazing how an out-of-context headline can trigger such impassioned responses which are so wrong. Read what the man actually said!

The 2000 and 2004 election outcomes make sense to me now.

Edwards sounds the same to me as he did as Kerry's running mate - like a guy who can't deliver his own home state.

Edwards populist, anti-corporate message is welcome. But when did we have a president who spoke standard American english?

"Strength of character is not common today in Washington. Over the past six years our halls of greatness in Washington D.C. have turned into passages known well by the elite and privileged. A place where corporate influence and the pursuit of personal gain and advantage has managed to drown the will of the people, where even those elected representatives of conscience and morals are quickly derailed or compromised, leaving them to no effect. I believe John Edwards has the strength of character and the moral temperance to overcome the forces in Washington that are so easily succumbed to and to overcome them for the sake of the greater good and security of the American people."

He said:

"The last two Democratic presidents, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, both talk like me."

That's very different from the arrogance that the headline implies. I have to ask what Clinton-supporter on the HuffPo Staff wrote this title. I know that sounds like Clinton-bashing, but what else is a reader supposed to think?

Headings like this are not going to hurt Edwards. They're just going to make the readers suspicious of the HuffPo writing staff.

Sorry Mr. Edwards, you sound like a gomer.

You are a slick lawyer who made a fortune on other people's suffering.

You could not carry the state you were born in and you could not carry the state you reside in during the 2004 primary. You could not carry the water for Kerry.

Go home little boy. Just go away.
