Bill Kristol Nyt

The Huffington Post has learned that, in a move bound to create controversy, the New York Times is set to announce that Bill Kristol will become a weekly columnist in 2008. Kristol, a prominent neo-conservative who recently departed Time magazine in what was reported as a "mutual" decision, has close ties to the White House and is a well-known proponent of the war in Iraq. Kristol also is a regular contributor to Fox News' Special Report with Brit Hume.

Update: The New York Times has confirmed the decision to hire Kristol.

Will they give Bill Herbert and Paul Krugman an extra day per week? Perhaps rebuttal rights?

OOh, I hate Kristol. Let him go fight the war he helped start. Send him to Iraq or Afghanistan. He can hang out with other conservatives....like the Taliban.

Kristol said: “Iraq should become a democracy. After all, the president has repeatedly cast the impending war as an effort to bring democracy to a land that for decades has known only dictatorship. Having defeated and then occupied Iraq, democratizing the country should not be too tall an order for the world’s sole superpower.” Any genuine conservative with a sensitivity to the interconnections between politics and culture would have said this was wishful thinking likely to get a lot of people killed. As it did.

This is my email to the NYT yesterday:

"After reading that the NYT plans to hire Bill Kristol as a columnist I immediately looked for ways to cancel my membership but I could not find it. Please advise how I can cancel any connection to the NYT. A newspaper has nothing to sell but its credibility. The NYT credibility was seriously compromised during the runup to the invasion of Iraq. Hiring Kristol would be the last straw for me."

The NYT replied that my registration has been cancelled.

Good GRIEF...I have to read Krisols arrogant "neocon crap"..at the NYTIMES?? PLEASE SAY IT AINT SO..Its enough that the "liberal press" didn't have enough "balls" (sorry, Maureen, you came close)..to ask the right questions...like "How can a born again Christian President demand the right to torture prisoners..without legal counsel"..Or how about comparing Bush to a psychopath...we all know he is...Or maybe ask him what he meant by "God talks to me".."What is God saying Mr. President...is that a voice you hear?"...And Karl Rove now writes for NEWSWEEK?? Heavne't we heard enough of them?? or maybe the'll make such fools of themselves, it will make their insantiy plain to everyone. I hope that's the "method of the madness" of the NYTIMES.

There's always room for one more NEOCON.

I hear Cheney will also be available.

This time instead of Judith Miller, this so called liberal rag will use Bloody Bill to beat the war drum. Bill is another neocon coward that never saw I war he didn't like, but he also would never FIGHT in. Just like Dumbya and Darth Cheney. Plus, you also have Herr Karl "the pig" Rove at Newsweek. Cowards all. War to the likes of them has ALWAYS been about the money. And in the Middle East it's also about OIL. The MSM has once again lowered itself. They are TRULY in bed with their masters and utilize lazy journalism, except for a couragious few.

Fukai (See profile | I'm a fan of Fukai)
Why are you so afraid of different points of view?

WILL YOU PLEASE STOP USING THE WORD AFRAID? You are driving me crazy.

That talking point is particularly annoying for the following reason: It implies that we are shouting down some fellow who might have something new to add to the national debate. BILL KRISTOL and his ilk ARE THE NATIONAL DEBATE. His point of view has been THE NATIONAL POLICY for the last seven years and it has been PROVEN to be lies and misinformation.

NeoCons have proven themselves to be something very different from "another point of view". They have proven themselves to be A DANGER TO THE CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES.

So, please stop saying we are "afraid of different points of view" and start saying that we are outraged by OUR NEOCON GOVERNMENT. Of which Kristol is a propagandist for.

That would be a tad more accurate.

Reading down the page of posts is indeed funny.

Self described "liberal progressives" decrying, canceling subscriptions, lamenting, WARNING, and otherwise questioning the hiring of a contentious opinion writer on the right....

Hmmm, seems that fear and loathing has become the hallmark of the left.

"I will not support a print publication that offers contrasting or contentious viewpoints.

Either they reinforce everything I think and prevent those who disagree with me from having a voice or I will not support them or read their newspaper!!!"

How very "liberal" indeed, how indicative of the hypocrisy and un-American depths to which the American left has sunk. How very pathetic.

Poor Richard's Almanac should have been banned eh?

For Shame you dolts, FOR SHAME....

Another shill for the neo-con White House is advancing on his career path ... to what? Billy, Billy, Billy ... weren't you told by your grandmother or someone of that kind of stature that you shouldn't put your apples all in one basket. You are in bed with some of the most disgusting people on the planet. Don't you know when one fruit gets rotten, the rest rot as well.
As for the New York Times ... their hay day of good journalism has been over for some time!

Its amazing to me that these people think they need the right wing point of view (and those kinds of readers?).

The fact is, anyone who supports Kristol's views doesn't shop at Bloomingdales anyway. They shop at Wal-Mart

The whole business strategy is out of whack. But then, the Time's withheld evidence of Bush's illegal domestic spying until after the 2004 elections. So we know where they stand...

This is my letter to the Times.

"I think it is an open question whether the Times itself should be prosecuted for this totally gratuitous revealing of an ongoing secret classified program that is part of the war on terror.”
Bill Kristol

Who is the biggest hypocrite here, you or Kristol? He either knew he was full of it when he made that statement or he decided to forget about it so he could make more money and have a platform for his pro-empire, pro-war propaganda. You and your colleagues have decided to forget that you were slandered so that you could suck up to the right wing in a first class way.

When I first read that the Times was hiring Kristol I decided that I would never read his column. I thought about it for a while and realized that response was inadequate. Instead I have decided not to pay to read your paper as long as Kristol is a columnist. Today I can save $4.00 and tip the waiter who serves my brunch. Whoever that person is deserves my cash far more than you or this blood thirsty, hateful man.
