Obama

Clinton, Iowa -- Barack Obama unveiled his closing act in the run-up to the January 3 caucuses and it's a heady mix of soaring promises, inspirational vision and a tightly targeted, one-two attack on his closest rivals, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.

"This is a defining moment," the Illinois senator told an enthusiastic audience of 300 in the Washington Middle School gym in this eastern Iowa river town late Friday afternoon. "We cannot wait to fix our schools, we cannot wait to stop climate change, we cannot wait to get universal health care... and we cannot wait to bring this war in Iraq to an end."

While Obama sounded his now standard themes of "hope" and "change you can believe in," he simultaneously sharpened his direct attacks on Clinton and Edwards, reverting to a defiant tone bordering on anger.

Obama's newly focused closing argument comes as he, and the other major candidates, are frenetically leap-frogging across the state, making five, six or more stump appearances a day. All three top candidates are running dead heats in most polls.

"The real gamble, the risk, the real risk in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same players and expecting a different result," Obama said in a direct riposte to the Clinton campaign. Two weeks ago Bill Clinton warned a national TV audience that nominating Obama would be a "roll of the dice" on America's future.

Obama continued his thinly veiled assault on Hillary Clinton, sarcastically deriding her repeated campaign claim that her experience trumps his message of change. "We don't need someone to work the system better because the system doesn't work for us," Obama said to a swell of applause. "We don't need someone who says, ' I know how to work the game,' because the game plan isn't working."

Rival John Edwards also came under a withering attack from Obama. "Some people say, 'Well, Obama talks a good game, but he's not angry enough, he's too conciliatory,'" he said, referring to a new stump speech by Edwards claiming the powerful must be confronted and not conciliated. "I don't need lectures about how to bring about change because I've spent my life bringing about change," Obama said in response to his own rhetorical query. "I turned down the big jobs to do community organizing in Chicago. I turned down the big money law firms to be a civil rights lawyer. I took on the lobbyists in the state legislature in Illinois."

"We don't need more heat in Washington," he added. "We need more light."

In these final six days of the Iowa campaign none of the major candidates are mentioning each other by name but are instead speaking in near-transparent code about each other. They are finely honing their messages, straining to starkly underscore their differences with each other. John Edwards has ratcheted up his economic populism with a new stump speech denouncing what he called "the profiteers" dominating America. Clinton has been doubling-down on her experience card. And now Obama has stiffened his tone, claiming to be the only reliable agent of change.

But Obama also took pains to burnish his credentials as a potentially strong commander-in-chief. Former Air Force General Tony McPeak warmed up the crowd saying that Obama possessed all the key qualities of a top military leader: reliability, authenticity, good judgment and intelligence.

"We've been conducing a colossal experiment for the last six years to see if it matters very much if the guy in the White House isn't that smart," McPeak said to whoops of laughter.. "And," he said, "the results are in."

I'm not quite sure why Huffpo has become so pro Obima.

The longer the campaign lasts, the sleazier he gets.

He thinks he can solve; oil industry influence, gas prices, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, illegal immigrants, the domestic economy, healthcare, foreclosures, global warming by simply attacking other democrats.

The more he hangs around in the race, the creepier he gets.

Not much of a unifier...

.
Here's the "case" for O-BOMBA:

1. He is the most ignorant, inexperienced and lest-capable Dem politician running for president.

2. He is a total hypocrite on lobbyists. His efforts in support of Illinois lobbyists have cost US taxpayers $12 million (so far). (Documented by Brian Ross on July 16 - see ABC NEWS website) Michael Bauer, part of BO's National LGBT Leadership Council, is registered as a lobbyist with ResPubica Group, a Chicago based firm that serves corporate and noncorporate clients.

3. His shady real-estate dealings with his partner-in-crime, lobbyist Tony Rezko stink!

4. Bomb Pakistan.

5. O-BOMBA is so devoid of creative thought, he has to steal the campaign ideas of John Edwards on healthcare, poverty and nuclear proliferation and try to pass them off as his own.

6. What's that white powder around his nostrils? (Must have had a powdered sugar donut, right?)

7. Note carefully this exchange to understand how dangerous it would be to have such an IGNORAMUS in charge of nuclear weapons:

2007-08-02 19:00:39 -

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday he would not use nuclear weapons "in any circumstance".
"I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance," Obama said, with a pause, "involving civilians." Then he quickly added, "Let me scratch that. There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table."

Eight years of having bumbling morons in charge is enough. America can, and MUST, do better than O-BOMBA.

I am really angry about the level of hatred that's spewed out for Hillary Clinton in this campaign. Some of it is from Edwards" supporters , but most of it comes from Obama supporters. Some of the Clinton supporters are very disrespectful towards Obama and Edwards, but not nearly as much as the Obama people are trashing Clinton. When are you haters going to grow up? This isn't a playground game, this election is the most important one of our lives. You people out there who are throwing all the mud are destroying the Democratic Party. You are so hateful toward your candidate's opponents that you are making it very difficult for the party to coalesce around the eventual nominee. Are you crazy? Do you really want to see Rudy Guiliani, or Mitt Romney, or John McCain being sworn in as the 44th President of the United States? You guys should learn to live together or get out of the party. Even a bird knows not to foul its own nest.

Obama Was Right....Hillary Wrong Re: PAKISTAN
By: Greg Jones

With the terrible announcement of Benazir Bhutto's assassination in Pakistan, one can't help but be reminded of a recent Democratic debate in which Hillary Clinton literally laughed at Barack Obama's statement that the United States should concentrate on the unrest in Pakistan even if it meant sending U.S. troops to the Afghan/Pakistan border where the Taliban, Al-queda and other terrorists are camped. Hillary did her pompous, smirky laugh stating that Obama wants to 'talk to our enemies (Iran) and attack our allies' (Pakistan border). But as events unfold in the region we are learning more and more of just how disasterously wrong she and our foreign policy have been. We are supporting a crazy dictator (Musharaf) who we have given millions of dollars to....who has point blank told us that he will not go to the Pakistan border to address the true terrorists because they 'made a deal'. It doesn't matter that crazy Mu has weapons of mass destruction and is probably hiding Bin Laden in the border region. And to Hillary.....this is all just fine. Is this the great 'experience' that she boasts having ? Now, as we watch the turmoil increase in the Pakistan region Hillary will surely state that we need her 'experience' to handle the situation when in fact, it is this very mindset or experience that is leading America and the entire world toward catastrophe. Face it Hillary.....You are wrong...Obama was right. Oh..and need I mention that the recent findings show that our 'enemy' hasn't had a weapons program for years ? But Hillary voted to basically crush Iran........wrong again Hill. To top things off....you'll probably stay supportive of Crazy Mu along with the other Bushites and regime controlled media 'experts' ! With 'experience' like yours.....who needs enemies ?
NOTE: CNN's Wolf Blitzer just released an email to be read in the event of Bhutto's death naming Musharraf as responsible! ANYONE (politicians, media, etc.) who is still supportive of Musharraf is dangerous for America .

That's not a one two punch to me this is the same message I've heard all a long. I respect Sen. Obama uplifting message he is a great champion for human rights. However if democrats nominate him he'll lose the election next fall. One of my conservative colleague told me the other day that republicans are anxiously waiting for us to nominate a Obama. Just two years out of his state senate position imagine what the GOP machine would generate in a general election. Democrats better wake up and smell the roses and not buy into the Obama hype because we'll hit rewind and play 2004 all over again. Barack Obama has a great future in politics I hope down the line he can be a great leader of this country this election cycle is not the time to roll the dice. If our party suffers another presidential loss it will criple the party forever.

Boy, all this hate for one man. Guess you guys are still trying to get over the fact that you never expected Obama to even come this close.

This is the same kind of hate that is going to destroy this country piece by piece.

My God, give it a rest already.

Obama has been nothing but consistent ever since he started this campaign. People have tried to undermine him, they've spread false and misleading news about him, they've tried to play on the psyche of the American people, again subtely using falsehoods, he's still managed to rise above all of that.

Obama may not win this race, but as one woman from New York said this morning on C-SPAN, he's already changed to dialogue in this primary.

All of a sudden everyone is the change agent, parroting what he'd been saying from the beginning.

You can hate all you want, but it does not change the fact that this man has run a brilliant campaign, and may very well come out the victor in this race.

If anyone thinks for one second that the Republicans won't be just as nasty to any other Democratic candidate, you must have your head buried somewhere in the sand in the Sahara desert.

They will all be viciously attacked just the same.

Sen. Clinton is now calling for an investigation into the Bhutto assassination although having been on the wrong side of the war in Iraq and it’s diversion away from the true war on terror originally, and on the wrong side of the issue regarding Iran (per recent intelligence reports). When did Sen. Clinton proactively voice policy positions regarding Pakistan and the growing Al Queda resurgence or potential instability there as reported by our intelligence agencies? If as being reported that Bhutto’s assassination may have been the result of Al Queda activity, why is it that HRC criticized Sen. Obama regarding his statements of dealing with the resurging threat of Bin Laden and Al Queda in Pakistan if based on actionable intelligence?
Sen. Dodd, Biden, and Obama all proactively asserted concerns toward the resurging Al Queda threat and potential instability in Pakistan, and the need to pay more attention to this region, while Sen. Clinton was rebuking Sen. Obama for addressing the Pakistan issue, and while she was adamantly pushing the Iran issue instead. NOW, she runs to the Pakistan issue, IMO in a reactionary mode when she failed to address the emerging Pakistan issues proactively, as Dodd, Biden, and Obama did. Shouldn’t one expect a “leader” to proactively assert policy to avoid crisis, and not to simply react to world crisis with after-the-fact statements.
When one looks at what happened to Bhutto and the news reports possibly linking Al Queda to her death, how in God’s name does one explain a current administration having made so many public statements that they were no longer concerned about Bin Laden, and HRC having chastised Obama for asserting proactive policy toward the ones who were responsible for the deaths of over 3,000 of our fellow citizens on 9/11? The logic going on with the current administration and HRC is IMO simply beyond understanding, considering our own intelligence agencies concerns toward the reemerging threat of Al Queda in Pakistan!
Looks like Obama, Dodd, and Biden have been on the right side of the issue all along.

That's a damn fine point Obama is making about the real gamble here. I would rather put my money where it has a 50% chance of winning than putting it where I've already lost!

'reliability, authenticity, good judgment and intelligence', the general is right on.

Obama's got all the necessary qualities to be our next commander in chief, as well as a proven track record, in terms of making the right decisions.

Plus, he's got the vision, charisma and leadership qualities.

I am voting for this man!

Has anyone noticed the editorial in today's Washington Post calling Obama to account for his recent foul in response to the death of Benazir Bhutto?

I feel the same visceral hatred for Obama that I feel when I see Bush.

Obama's face represents two things:
1. Corporate media election fixing
2. The gullibility and passivity of the left

Is it not even the tiniest bit suspicious that there's a media blackout on Biden, Edwards, and Dodd? There should be outrage about this but the left is lazy.

Just watch...When Hillary comes in THIRD in Iowa, the media buzz will be how CLOSE she came after being ganged up on by two men!
Hillary plays the victim card every opportunity: the poor spurned wife that was "shocked" that her husband cheated on her, the "right-wing conspiracy" target, the Senator that was misled by an administration that lied and withheld evidence.

The woman claims to be a model of incompetence and blase indifference!...taken advantage of at every turn!
This is EXPERIENCE?

Vote for someone that gets it right THE FIRST TIME!

Pre-emptive stike - definition

Only when we KNOW we (or our allies) are about to be attacked.

George W. Bush, GOP, Edwards (even tho he's sorry now) and Hillary's definition: If we used their way of thinking we would have had a WWIII with the Soviet Union. They had WMD and they were pointed at US.
