The Trends That Made The "Nice" List For 2007

There was enough going on this year to make even the most optimistic of people depressed. As a respite, all our favorite trends this year are a little out there -- bright colors, huge accessories, with a lot of emphasis on just having some fun.

• • • • • See, we told you there were wide-leg trousers sans high waists. We love how this funky cut recalled Katharine Hepburn and gave us a reason to store those skinny leg jeans. Flattering AND fashionable? That's a win/win!

Women are the biggest consumers of stuff roaming the planet. Their insatiable need-addiction to have to have stuff they don't need is actually quite astounding.

Oh, come on. Some of us moms have really long waists. Really really long waists and even with high-waisted pants have plenty of waist to spare. Please leave us our mom pants.

Those Balenciaga "sneaker" shoes are described as "a little nuts" and having heels that are "workable and distinctive." OK...

That description must have been written by a male who never tried to walk around in heels like that. Why is it that women still have to wear high heels that shorten the calf muscles to be in fashion? High heels also make walking on one's toes a necessity, assuming that one can walk at all, instead of just carrying the damn things and wearing them to stand, sit, or walk a few paces. It looks like women are (fashionably!) doing a 20th-century version of foot binding.

If you live long enough,everything you hated or loved will make the rounds again.
When I see bell-bottom trousers now I feel quite ill.
Same with the huge,American football type of shoulder pads.
Looked great on 1940's stars but failed in the 70's and 80's.
The mini skirt revival was also a disaster for many
and still is.
