Riaa Goes After Personal Use

Washington Post:

Despite more than 20,000 lawsuits filed against music fans in the years since they started finding free tunes online rather than buying CDs from record companies, the recording industry has utterly failed to halt the decline of the record album or the rise of digital music sharing.

Still, hardly a month goes by without a news release from the industry's lobby, the Recording Industry Association of America, touting a new wave of letters to college students and others demanding a settlement payment and threatening a legal battle.

Just stop buying their garbage...its real easy. The Independent music is better anyway.

The RIAA needs to stop bying off DJ's and forcing people to only listen to what THEY want you to listen to.

The RIAA can kiss my ass. When they find a credible use for themselves, maybe that's when people will flock to buy music. Hell, there's none of the bullshit pumped out by the RIAA that I'd want to download in the first damn place. So they should stop acting all diva and stop acting like people want everything they got. They should go drop dead.

Everyone knows, all the best music in the world, comes from OUTSIDE THE USA.

They have gotta be friggin' kidding us?

Apparently I to have broken their copyright laws - even though I have never posted a single song, or retreived one via file sharing - becase *gasp* I have made copies of my own CDs to my computer so that I can play them without toting the Cds with me.

The judge hearing the case needs to laugh the companies filing this suit out of the court.

So the recording artists want to get all the pussy and get paid for it. Like having your cake and licking the icing while having your pockets filled with cash. I know the musicians will say I'm a romantic but really, from the beginning, songs were written to be sung and have people hear and enjoy them. Not to cash in on limo rides. And, it ain't working. The hit performers don't have anything to offer and fade so fast. Not to mention any names but look at the trailer tramp from LA and let's not forget Micheal Jackson. There is more to art than money so let's get back to enjoying music, not exploiting it.

Ok,bring the handcuffs! I'm a certified criminal at last.
What will be next?
Only one roll of loo-paper per person for the year?
Somebody is getting rich and it isn't me!

What about transferring CD's to MP3 players? That must be illegal too according to their argument. Therefore, they could pinch anyone off the street with one and prosecute them.

I've bought maybe 10 CD's ever. I avoid most radio, except for the local college AM station, because most radio just simply sucks.

The record business has trouble because the product is about as appealing as stale diet pop - and I don't like pop anyway.

The remedy? Open source music.

Don't buy from the Corporate Record Companies.. buy from the little guys, they won't sue you when you download your CD to the computer..

So glad I never gave a darn about having songs I like on my computer. If it ain't on the radio, I so do not care.

Yes, it's more evidence that the RIAA is a sinking ship that donno where to turn. Flail about all ya wanna guys, ain't turning back the clock. Learn from newspapers who at least know how to (semi)-adapt to changing times.

Morons.
