The presidential candidates spent the last Sunday before the Iowa caucuses attending church services and staging big rallies to make last-minutes appeals as new polls suggested tightening races in both the Democratic and Republican fields.

With three Democrats scrambling for the lead in Iowa, which holds its caucuses on Thursday, the candidates tried to paint their opponents as flawed for the challenges facing the nation.

The Democratic Party is the home of modern liberalism, and modern liberals are deconstructionists. As this appellation suggests, deconstructionists are engaged in an effort to philosophically disassemble traditional Judeo-Christian truths. To the modern liberal, the very idea that traditional Judeo-Christian truths might be true for all men is oppressive, limiting, judgmental, discriminatory and outdated. The deconstructionists will not rest so long as anyone in our society believes that traditional Judeo-Christian truths might actually be universals. They desire a post-modern (and post Judeo-Christian) America, in which almost all traditional values and morality are reduced to the status of mere personal preferences, rendering it nonsensical to extend them beyond one's self or one's own community."

Correct. The Judeo-Christian ethos is a cultural and personal choice. Assuming that it is the ground zero for moral philosophy is arrogance at its Bushiest.

"At the first sign of difficulty, they deemed the war a mistake and victory impossible. They quickly adopted the language of defeat and surrender. Some declared the surge a failure before it began and General Petraus a liar before he uttered a public word about its effects. Others are quick to believe reports of alleged atrocities by our own troops, as if seeking an American disgrace. Now, leading Democrats seem to believe that recovery from past mistakes is impossible, and that any hint of success can be only illusory.

Why do so many Democrats cling so tenaciously to hopelessness, failure and despair in Iraq, even in the face of important recent successes?

The reason for this defeatism among Democrats lies beneath mere power politics, electioneering or disdain for President Bush. The real source of defeatism is rooted deep within the liberal mind.

Defeatist Democrats oppose the war in Iraq, not so much because they fear failure, but because they believe failure is inevitable. They believe the Bush Administration's goal of helping Iraq establish a democratic government is a fool's errand. They believe that the Western values on which democratic government is based -- and the Judeo-Christian truths from which those Western values are derived -- are not valid for Iraqis.

Edwards is the Democrat with the best chance of winning the general election.

1) He is very good with the populist message.
2) He is able to argue with clear, concise statements.
3) And yes - I will say it here - he is a white-male.

While I personally would vote for Hillary, Obama or Edwards over any of the Republicans - I think we all know that is if Hillary or Obama is the nominee - get ready for the attacks against Hillary because she is a woman or Obama because he is black and unfortunately a lot of Americans particularly in the key states will likely at the last minute say - that is too much of a change for their comfort factor - particularly if someone like Romney is the Republican nominee.

No city on earth stands as a greater symbol of responsibility than this one. The brave firefighters and police officers who lost their lives because they went back in the World Trade Center to save the lives of others. The mayor who took charge and lifted up this city and our nation. So today, we salute New York City, not just the financial capital of America, but now, more than ever, a city at the very heart of America.

Responsibility of the kind we have seen in New York is at the heart of what the DLC has always stood for; it is written in the record and work of this organization. From national service to community policing to deficit reduction, the ideas you have advanced around the country have been about inspiring a new sense of responsibility in all walks of American life. Millions of Americans are able to lift themselves up, give something back, and hold their heads high because the DLC has given them the chance.

John Edwards - 2002 DLC National Conversation
New York, NY

Don't be fooled by another DLC candidate!

Edwards hit the nail with that statement, with these fascist in the repukes now, being nice you will be eaten alive ,think Kerry in 2004 for proof of that, sorry people it's going to take someone who is angry and going to go toe to toe in nastiness with the fascist repukes ,only thing the repukes understand ,Edwards is the guy to do that he'll give them a fight ,that's why their afraid and main stream media doesn't give him air time or they spread nasty rumors , sorry Americans will not fall for these tactics anymore , but this is the reason Edwards will fight back with aggressive tactics ,just like the fascist have used for the past 10 years, time for the democrats get someone with a spine Edwards in 2008

Edwards wasn't just wrong on Iraq, he didn't just get fooled on Iraq, he was actively preaching the Pro-Bush, pro-neocon sermon at the time...

Eli Lake on John Edwards: "I remember him at Christopher Hitchens' house giving me the best arguments I'd heard from any Democrat on why we should invade Iraq. ... very neoconservative arguments ... humanitarian arguments."

My decision to not for Obama is not based on his congeniality but on his lack of experience. Being nice is a good thing, more of us should practice it.

If Ewards actually wins I wonder if that will make the Hillary Haters Happy??? I'll vote for the Dem whoever it is. I have no idea who Gravel is, but I'll vote for him if he wins. Edwards is a perfectly acceptable candidate to me. But so is Hillary. She will be different and some people better stop being so fanatical before we get another Neo-Con Unitary Executive sitting on the Throne in the White Palace.

Judicary Watch just printed their 10 most corrupt politicians of 2007 - Obama and Clinton made the list. Clinton for not releasing the White House year documents as First Lady. Obama for the following:

" Senator Barack Obama (D-IL): A "Dishonorable Mention" last year, Senator Obama moves onto the "ten most wanted" list in 2007. In 2006, it was discovered that Obama was involved in a suspicious real estate deal with an indicted political fundraiser, Antoin "Tony" Rezko. In 2007, more reports surfaced of deeper and suspicious business and political connections It was reported that just two months after he joined the Senate, Obama purchased $50,000 worth of stock in speculative companies whose major investors were his biggest campaign contributors. One of the companies was a biotech concern that benefited from legislation Obama pushed just two weeks after the senator purchased $5,000 of the company"s shares. Obama was also nabbed conducting campaign business in his Senate office, a violation of federal law."

Guilliani is on the list as well, along with Craig, Libby, and Pelosi.

Judicial Watch does do thier homework but they did forget Bush and Cheney...

Notice how the libs are in a hurry to deny the Dem nomination to a woman or a black man ? The 1st woman or black President will be a Republican. You can bet on it.

God it will be fun when Hillary or even Obama wins the Dem nomination so we can stick it to the libs here for supporting the nutbags like Edwards, Richardson and Kucinich.
