The presidential candidates spent the last Sunday before the Iowa caucuses attending church services and staging big rallies to make last-minutes appeals as new polls suggested tightening races in both the Democratic and Republican fields.

With three Democrats scrambling for the lead in Iowa, which holds its caucuses on Thursday, the candidates tried to paint their opponents as flawed for the challenges facing the nation.

Recently, I've had an epiphany of sorts. In spite of the circus macabre that modern electioneering has become, it seems to me there is something healthy, and charged, going on in the Democratic portion of the run-up to the first Tuesday in November. These are dynamic, charismatic individuals with passion and no small amount of decency. I think a ticket with any two of these folks (even Hillary, if she would accept a VP nomination, which she wouldn't) would win, and would be good for this country. Then I look at the Republican side and I see a bunch of James Bond villain wannabees. I don't even want to imagine any of those guys getting their hands on the prize, nor can I imagine any of them swaying the majority of voters throughout Red State and Swing State America.
So even though the Democratic Congress has become the proverbial picture you see when you look up the word "disappointment" in the dictionary, I am feeling like a new wind is blowing through this country.

Where does he say Obama is too nice? He says "you can't nice these people into..." It's an oft-used line. MSM isn't happy with what is already a combative campaign?

Being nice goes a long way. I want a nice guy in the White House. And also a genius. Obama meets both requirements.

Edwards could have been more on the money by saying, "Man, he's got big ears."

The impression I get from many of John Edwards and Hillary Clinton's bloggers is that Barack Obama is a snake, a rat and a cheat. Now along comes Edwards and says different. Now I'm totally confused!

Apparently, Edwards has never cracked the binding on either of his opponent's books, or he'd know that when needed, Obama can be as tough as anyone out there. Leaving no doubt as to his ability to face down anyone either here or abroad.

There are alot worse things you could call a person besides "nice."

Obama and Edwards both have lots of past mistakes to account for. But, Edwards is right when he says you have to fight the power elite to get something done.

Look at how Hillary is bought and paid for. Do you seriously think she'd stand a chance if he wasn't funded by AIPAC, the defense industry, the HMO's and the drug companies? No way and she knows that. Besides, there's no sign that she wouldn't repeal Bush's Executive Orders and the Military Comissions Act? How come she never talks about these? Because she knows that that'll cost her the election. It doesn't matter that it's the right thing to do. All that matters is the money and power. From Pelosi and Reid all the way down.

Both Edwards and Obama need to cover more issues. If they don't the he's too nice label will hurt Obama. Which will only add to Edward's lead.

Obama has led one of the ugliest campaigns for the Democratic nomination. Do you remember his gay bashing by having McGurkin sing at his rallies. This was an obvious message to people that he supports gay bashing. How about insinuating that Hillary was responsible for the death of bhutto. the tea party comment to remind people that Hillary is just a woman. The bush clinton years story that comes out of his campaign. He does not seem like a nice man at all.

Obama is not too nice, he is too wimpy. Additionally, his background should disqualify him from the Presidency. Look at him critically, without that white guilt that propels his campaign. How about his Muslim ancestry? Wake up people.

I don't like Huffy's hit jobs on Hillary and I don't like their hit jobs on Edwards.

Obama is a decent candidate. I wish Huffy would just present his strengths without getting into this nonsense.

Nice doesn't sound like a bad change - better then ignorant (either feigned or real) - which has much worse consequences at a time when there isn't much opportunity for second chances.
