In light of FOX News' planned cut-off of Republican Ron Paul from an upcoming presidential primary campaign debate, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen released the following statement regarding weekend debates:

"Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all serious candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate - not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.

"Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.

"The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6."

UPDATE: Ron Paul rips into Fox News.

But Ron Paul beat Rudy in Iowa. If they are going to cut off RP as being second tier wouldn't they also have to dump their best buddy RG?

Actually you can read into the NH party chief's comments a bit of the New Hampshire attitude that Iowa is a silly exercise and THEY are the REAL number one event.

Didn't realize how deep GOP & FOX fears really ran, but, never doubted the depths of their paranoia, pretense & pomposity!

The rise of cable news, the corporate ownership of the old fcc regulated stations, no real news gathering budgets, talking head commentary, the 24 hour news cycle, the drone of celebrity gossip, the decline of print journalism (and the concurrent loss of readership), the "fear" factor as a fop for true debate, the unprecedented injection of evangelical philosophy, etc., etc. what is one to expect from our candidates and the voting public. It is the interests of corporate america and the multinationals to maintain the status quo don’t you think? Who are the fools here? Us!

I don’t believe in half of Ron Paul’s platform, it’s funny that I find John Edwards and Kucinich to be his closest counterparts across the aisle.

Paul will never be able to dismantle social security, the CIA, or the Dept. of Education, most environmental regs, a state’s right to allow abortions or the move towards a non-profit national health care.

But if he got rid of the federal reserve, homeland security, stopped the national ID card movement in it’s tracks and the "income tax" reduced the military-industrial complex’s lust for "constant war" reduced the Pentagon’s budget by two thirds, kept the Internet unregulated (the only place left to get real unfiltered opinion) has a sensible immigration policy, got out of an interventionist foreign policy and returned to the gold standard, he’s my man-- and the enemy of the corporate fascism that has the real power over us-- if he gets anywhere near those goals he’ll have a target on his back the size of a school bus.

If they proceed with trying to block Ron Paul I think there should be an enormous loud protest inside and outside the debating center. This is absurd, he deserves a chance to say what ever he feels is in the best interest of this country which most likely has nothing to do with Fox's predetermined agenda. Go Ron Paul, give em hell.

Calling Ron Paul a "flash in the pan" is absurd.
And quite honestly, he's getting more publicity from his absence in the Faux Forum than he probably would have gotten from attending.

Faux is doing everything they can to keep him out of the limelight, but obviously is underestimating the determination of Dr. Paul's supporters.

It will be interesting and exciting to see where Ron Paul lands once all the partisan games are over. Nothing is a fact until the people start voting, then you can judge the validity of his campaign.

Until then, it's just propaganda.

And there's plenty of that going around.

I am not a Ron Paul supporter - but I believe he has been important to this campaign. His spirited raising of issues that are counter to the party line forces a more open debate.

FAUX News is still the bigest sess pool of partisan crap to be erected in this country. However, in the case of Ron Paul, they can spot a flash in the pan when they see it. Besides, there is limited room in most of the venues where these debates are held, the Republicans just don't have the room for all those enormous egos on one stage!

This is interesting in light of the Debates I saw yesterday with about 6 never seen or heard of before Republican running for Pres.
Do the Dems also have their 'Farm Team' we have not seen?
Since I don't speak Republican I can't say they were 'good or bad', but certainly the Citizens of this country have the right to hear all the contestants.
Frankly at this point I'd WANT to hear what Donald Duck has to say. I've heard enopugh from the Mickey W. Mouse Fan club. I'm nauseated by our choices. Open the Field!
Democracy demand all voices be heard.
Some have even used assasination to silence opposing voices. We just limit any air time exposure. Different methods but with the same results- stacking the deck, pocketing cards and basically undermining Democracy (disposing of the opposition)
Bush is just the epitamy of the corruption in our Gov't, both parties are complicite. time to depose the two party system. I will likely vote for a Dem as I have for a Repug for the last 2 1/2 decades- NOT. I'd rather have a Novice than one of the 'Old Pros'.
I'm Un- impressed with all the 'choices' we have been allowed to hear.
Any law or reg or Media outlet that 'vets' our choices should be eliminated and /or held for Election rigging an act against our Democracy - A treasonous act. Those 'sportin' long political resumes should at least be kicked out of Public Service - If not indicted for crimes they have committed while in the Public sector. Those are the ones who have allowed this scenerio to play out, if not incited it. They have blocked our progession as a nation, by pandering to the Old guardand the Corporationist.
i'll vote for people who have never been in the political arena, but wish to serve their country. Career politicans are dead to me- because they are the ones who have gotten US in this domestic & international mess.

Let's get back to the main point here, folks.

A network that claims to be "balanced," fair and unbiased should allow ALL candidates to appear and be heard in a presidential debate.
By not inviting one or more candidates, and asking introspective questions of each, there really is no debate at all (at least none that I'd be willing to spend my time watching).

Some of the other networks have marginalized candidates, or asked "light" and "soft" questions of some, while grilling others. This clearly shows bias as well.

The moderators should do their homework, look at the voting records of candidates, previous position papers or speeches, their overall record in public service, as well as where their support (money) comes from, and be prepared to ask intelligent questions of each candidate in the debate.

Our media has become skewed, self-promoting and supportive of their "picks" and want to portray their favored in the best light. There is no more real news, hard-hitting questions or tru investigative journalism any more. They're all staged, planted, or sound-bites promoting one policy or candidate.

I much prefer the foreign news media. Both on television and in print, they're far superior to what we've got.

Ron Paul is a very naive man if he thinks our rulers at the federal reserve won't kill him faster than you can say the word bhutto.
