In light of FOX News' planned cut-off of Republican Ron Paul from an upcoming presidential primary campaign debate, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen released the following statement regarding weekend debates:

"Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all serious candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate - not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.

"Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.

"The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6."

UPDATE: Ron Paul rips into Fox News.

A few questions the phony-conservatives at Fox News dare not ask:

1.Why has a “longshot” “fringe candidate” like Ron Paul received more donations from the military than all other Presidential candidates, Republican and Democrat?

2.Why did Ron Paul post a 114% increase in Q3 fundraising while “top tier” candidates like Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain, posted fundraising decreases of 29%, 40%, and 55% respectfully?

3.If Ron Paul has such low poll numbers and no chance of winning, why do reporters keep asking if he’ll run as a third party candidate?

4.Why aren’t the “front runners” asked if they will run as a third party candidate, with their poll numbers they should stand a much better chance of winning than a “long shot” like Ron Paul?

5.Why aren’t the “second tier” candidates like Alan Keyes or Duncan Hunter asked if they’ll run as a third party candidate when they poll near Ron Paul?

6.Why is some one who opposes war, wants diplomatic relations, and free trade with all countries called an isolationist?

7.Why is there no grass roots support for “top tier” candidates like Romney, Giulaini, and McCain? Why is there such apathy surrounding these “top tier” candidates?

8.Why is the only thing that defines a Republican, this year, is support of a war?

9.Why does the media keep trying to label someone who has been a Republican for over 30 years, who supports free trade, small government, fiscal conservatism, and states’ rights as a non-Republican?

10.How did a person polling in the single digits and low teens before the Iowa Caucus on January 19, 2004 manage to win the nomination of the Democratic party?

What surprises me is Fox is not trying to keep Mike Huckabee out of the debate. He's the one the GOP establishment is scared to death of, not Paul.

It could easily work in Paul's favor if he is not invited to the debate.

His supporters will be there with their signs...and very loud as usual.

Paul can set up a press conference "across the street" and respond to the questions that are being posed in the debate. Instead of being on the debate stage...and being ignored...he'll have the stage to himself.

The leechs called reporters will flock to interview and broadcast the "outcast"...could be a real coup for Paul...what has he got to lose?

Ron Paul states the slaveowners should have been compensated for the acts of treason.

He also believes in a free market, contractual solution to every problem.

Surely he must be for reparations for the descendants of slaves. They are surely owed "back wages".

He would also, I presume, be in favor of compensation for Native Americans.

The settlement would be an enormous government program of many many trillions. But by the laws of property it is justly owed.

Our original Constitution sanctioned slavery and stated African Americans were 3/5 of a human being.

As we return to this ideal past under a RP administration, surely African Americans and Native Americans will have earned a place at the town hall negotiating table.

Should not surprise anyone. The news media in this wonderful nation of ours pretty much dictates how people are so well controlled. It is surprising how many are taken in and don't even know it. The news media should be completely unbiased in politics and do factual and honest reporting with fairness to all but as you can see that did not happen here. The American people deserve to hear out all the candidates and chose accordingly...that should be the democratic way. People need to be better informed and in order to do this need to seek out other media both domestic and international. There are many computer web sites that offer many opportunities to read and hear a broad perspective of politics and other issues effecting our everyday lives and these should all be explored. If you limit yourself to our own major networks and their controlling influences then the outcome is predictable.

Fox is ridiculous to do this. I think they're afraid that the Repubs will want to vote for Ron Paul. Why not--he's better than the rest of the lot.

Only corporatist candidates are invited to Rupert Murdoch's party.

Since Ron Paul's support is so low for registered Republicans, I wonder where he is getting all that money. Could it be all those people that de-registered from both parties?

Is anybody surprized by this??? FOX is the neo-con network, not the republican network. They don't want traditional republicanism to be remembered. They only want their distorted and twisted PNAC version, which is not republicanism. It's an extreme right-wing bunch that thinks pre-emptive military strikes are just and legal. They have turned America into an imperialist nation. Imperialism is anti-American and anti-democratic. They dispise the Constitution, hate reason and truth, and operate in the shadows, and behind closed doors.

This is one of the few times I have ever agreed with a republican. All candidates should be allowed to participate. The fact that Dr. Paul makes more sense than the other candidates surely makes the establishment nervous.

Fox has not only alienated the entire Democratic party, they have also insulted every Republican candidate besides Gulliani. Big mistake. Under the next president, congress will investigate the fetid stink of corruption which permeates FOX. And if Roger Ailes is unable to buy off Judith Regan, they are really going to be in a world of hurt.

Just think: Congress may even pass a law that says newscasts actually have to be Fair and Balanced.

I guess Ron Paul is making the powers that be nervous. They see his fundraising totals and the size of the crowds at his events and they are getting scared.
