In light of FOX News' planned cut-off of Republican Ron Paul from an upcoming presidential primary campaign debate, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen released the following statement regarding weekend debates:

"Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all serious candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate - not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.

"Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.

"The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6."

UPDATE: Ron Paul rips into Fox News.

This story is overblown and incoherent.
There is no FOX debate scheduled for Jan 6.

From "Left Coast Views":
*****

For those who missed the story, Fox News and the New Hampshire GOP had been engaged in discussions about holding a Republican Presidential Debate. Those plans were abandoned when ABC and WMUR committed to a broadcast debate one day prior to the Fox proposal. In light of that situation, Fox News felt that it needed some visibility just prior to the January 8th primary. They decided to host a "round table discussion" in a closed studio with a few of the candidates (presumably as a supplement to Chris Wallace’s Fox News Sunday program). They sent out invitations to those that they considered likely to be the leading contenders in that primary, which (in their initial judgment) did not include Ron Paul. That upset Paul supporters and his campaign, which continued its efforts to gain his admission.

This event is not a "debate", nor even a "forum", which implies a public event with the direct engagement of the Republican Party in a legitimate effort to inform their members and voters of New Hampshire. Even if the NHGOP facilitated arrangements for TV studios, as it has done for many media outlets, the intended broadcast is a private event. Which presents a bit of a conundrum for Ron Paul and his supporters (I count myself among them).

As a defender of the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment, Paul believes that every individual (and every private corporation) has a right to use their own resources to express their own views: even if it lies, deceives, misrepresents, and distorts the facts for its own purposes. As a libertarian, he has no interest in coercing anyone to present contrary views and he opposes all legal interventions, including the "fairness doctrine." In a free and open society, where there are no banned words, the truth will eventually emerge.

Funny how there are lots of Americans out there who watch Fox News and blindly vote and think just how Fox News tells them to vote and think.

C'mon Amerika, get a damn brain. Get a spine too. People, make your own choices, your own decisions. Make up your own mind. Hell, you don't even have to agree with me, lol. It's your choice, remember? ;)

But sadly, there's too many automatons who drone through life, 9-5 and get home just in time to watch O'Lielly and Vannity, and they think it's "news". It's opinionated commentary and has nothing to do with news. Hell, I could do what Bill O'Lielly does, I could do it better and I could be 1000% more truthful. But still, I'd be an opinionhead spouting my own opinions.

The DC Republican chattering class doesn't like Paul's message. That's the only explanation.

They are afraid he might bring up some of the things show in this movie which would make the whole idea of him being voted in too scary for them to stomach.

I don't think Fox News is afraid of Paul, per se, I think Fox News is afraid of that which they can't control.

The last few Debates they hosted Fox News had their little poll that always resulted in a Ron Paul win to my recollection. This outcome has always pissed all over whatever candidate spin they were trying to push.

It is impossible to leverage your propaganda when your own poll undercuts your pundits.

Ron Paul and his supporters are a burr in Fox News' saddle ... Paul and his supporters make Fox News look foolish rather than authoritative and I don't think Ailes and Murdoch like that.

Anyone on Dr Paul's official team:

I suggest his team select all the questions asked and get Ron on video answering them as soon as possible after the "FAUX" debate and post it on YouTube and blast every blog with the link to it.

This way Ron can use more that the 30 seconds they would have given him to answer any question.

It could turn out to be the best comeback ever and even better than if he were included.

Fox fears libertarians.

libertarian poll:Whether you're "pro-life", "pro-choice", or something else altogether, would you accept a compromise -- which would leave abortion legal, but forbid even a penny of tax money to be spent on it -- if it would settle this issue for good and let us get on with taking our country back?

This is the beginning of the schism. Ron Paul is a voice to the RIGHT of Faux Noise, therefore they have resorted to Gestapo tactics to suppress him. Next they will set their character assassins on him, because they cannot tolerate any deviation from their orthodoxy. Right-wingers who are too moronic to notice when Faux uses these unsavory tactics on Democrats will not be able to miss them this time.

Mega Corporate Controls and Main Stream Media concerns aside, Ron Paul is still the best candidate current running for POTUS.

He has the strength, experience and integrity to make the necessary changes to straighten out the sorry mess in which this country is currently mired.
