In light of FOX News' planned cut-off of Republican Ron Paul from an upcoming presidential primary campaign debate, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen released the following statement regarding weekend debates:

"Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all serious candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate - not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.

"Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.

"The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6."

UPDATE: Ron Paul rips into Fox News.

After Huckabee blew the landing at his press conference, the Huckabus made its way over to his office nearby where a Ron Paul throng was shouting and a group of anti-war protesters had made their way into his office with signs saying "who would Jesus bomb?"

How does this fit into the earlier report about FOX being fair and unbiased?
They are just a news reporting agnecy, not the Gestapo, I think.

For the record: Wasn't it JOHN EDWARDS who first pushed back against Fox News in this election cycle?

Taking a stand against Fox, against these shills, these bought-and-paid for Neo-con Republican liars, was an unusual thing to do for a politician, because politicians as a class are not only cowards, but there is also a bromide of "conventional political wisdom" that you can only hurt yourself by attacking "the press."

Case in point: Spiro Agnew.

But Fox is trying its little manipulative, news-slanting game in the wrong place: New Hampshire. A clumsy move, which should backfire on Fox and perhaps give Dr. Paul even more of a boost.

Why would Fox do this? Don't they know that the Ron Paul supporters have the tendency to blow up buildings using U-haul trucks?

Justin Raimondo
Unclear on the Concept of Ron Paul
Posted by Justin Raimondo on December 29, 2007

In a piece entitled ”5 Moments That Changed the GOP Race,” Reid Wilson, of realclearpolitics.com, describes number 5:

“Ron Paul raises $4 million and $6 million in individual days. The important thing to remember: Ron Paul will not win the Republican presidential nomination. His campaign does not have the organizational strength, and his message is simply not suited for a Republican primary electorate that, largely, still supports the war in Iraq and President Bush.”

Yes, it’s really really really important that you keep all of the above in mind, even almost none of it is true. First of all, how can it be that the only real small-government conservative “is simply not suited for a Republican primary electorate”?

Maybe Ron Paul doesn't have a store-front campaign office set up in the proper place - isn't that the excuse the Des Moines Register used for blocking Kucinich from participating in their debate??

I don't care if it's the Dems or the GOP...ALL PERSONS running for POTUS should be allowed to participate in the debates; no matter who is sponsoring them.

Why do you believe Fox News is excluding Ron Paul from an upcoming forum of Republican candidates on January 6?

FOX will pay a price for dissin' Ron Paul...well they would if the Paul-Tards weren't mooching the cable from their Mom's basement...but they will fire off 7 thousand really harshly worded emails/each hour.

How can it be legal in this country for a business that licenses the public airwaves -- to deliver journalism -- fail to present the candidates?

For a more detailed look at how the media "news producers" operate, can this blog posted yesterday:

This is very good news.

It will further split the Republicans. The business and libertarian wing will leave the religious and "values" wings.

Democratic romp in 2008.

this is a NON partisan issue. candidates on both "sides" of the fence have been marginalized. we have a plutocracy, and the Old Media is their mouthpiece.

this is one of the reasons that Ron Paul unites so many from so different backgrounds - "freedom is popular", and that includes free speech.

They are scared shitless of Paul's message, sort of like the Dems with Kucinich. Other than abolishing the FED and ending military adventurism overseas I have little use for him but I want these issues put on the table for ALL candidates to discuss. Kudos to New Hampshire's Rep Party.

The Republican Party has to look like it is 'protecting' the rights of the people...

Point of fact - The Republican Party leaders don't want Ron Paul in the debate... He talks about things the party leadership does not want people to hear.
