MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Ralph Nader unleashed on Hillary Rodham Clinton Monday - criticizing her for being soft on defense spending and a chum of big business - and expressed his strong support for John Edwards.

In an 11th hour effort to encourage liberal Iowans to "recognize" Edwards by "giving him a victory," the activist and former presidential contender said in an interview that Clinton will "pander to corporate interest groups" if elected.

Nader specifically accused Clinton of failing to challenge military spending because "she is a woman who doesn't want to be labeled as soft on defense and she doesn't want to be shown as taking on big business."

You might want to audience test your endorsements BEFORE you announce them.
When your audience is the Democratic Base, Nader is nearly as popular as getting the Bill Kristol seal of approval.

Nader endorsing a Democrat after wrecking 2 elections will be as welcome as a F*RT in Church.

The right choice. I love Hillary. She is a strong, educated , mother , wife and politician, but unless something comes to light about Edward that would turn me off, I will vote for Edward. Nader is right on the trigger with this one.

Maybe this will give Edwards an edge over Obama with the progressive/independent crowd. Nader's history of anti-corporate activism will give Edward's populist message some legitimacy. Before people start spewing the garbage about how Nader cost Gore the election in 2000 remember three things. First, the election was stolen by Bush and the courts. Second, Gore lost his home state of Tennessee, if he had managed to win his home state then the outcome in Florida wouldn't have mattered. Third, it your own fault if you lose votes, not the other person your running against. If Gore wasn't a strong enough candidate to get those Nader votes then that is Gore's fault, not Nader's.
