Huckabee

AP:

Republican Mike Huckabee, a presidential candidate sounding a populist theme in Iowa, likely will be forced to cross a writers' picket line if he appears Wednesday on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.

Earlier Wednesday, Huckabee said he supports the writers and did not think he would be crossing a picket line, because he believed the writers had made an agreement to allow late night shows back on the air.

The WGA strike is highly unpopular out here. Production has stopped on almost all tv shows. Sure the stars can take it in stride. But there are a lot of auxiliary businesses and people involved in those businesses who are now without jobs because of the WGA. Leno employs 160 people. And that's not even a big show. The blame isn't going to the moguls who run the studios. It is going towards the WGA.

Leno doesn't own his show. Letterman does. Leno cannot cut a separate deal. There are 160 people who are working on that show who could have stayed out in support of the WGA. They did not. Instead they chose to cross picket lines and return to work. Unions are not that popular out here. CA is an agricultural state, not a manufacturing state. The largest union in the state represents the Civil Servie Workers.

Huckabee's base is a group who is anti Union in the first place. It isn't going to hurt him one bit appearing on that show. He isn't getting the GOP nomination, but not because of this appearance on the Tonight Show.

As pointed out this morning by Dr. Sherry Bebitch Jeffe, USC Senior Scholar, Republicans don't care about unions or picket lines and probably applaud Huckabee for his action.

Right up there with all liberal candidates

Talk all you want butt-boy...Democrats are mopping the floor with the GOP and with morons like Huckafuck, Rudy-nosferatu, and Romney "flip/flop"...it's just going to be that much easier to wipe you pukes off the coutry, like so many shit stains.

This moron is clueless about everything. He has no clue what to do about Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, the economy, and he doesn't even know enough not to go to CA on the last night of the caucus in Iowa. Add to that he is a religious looney, and apparently a SCAB as well.

Must have been getting more of that awesome campaign advice from Ed Rollins, (one of the most over-sold political "gurus" in American politics), and Chuck Norris (a guy who hasn't been cool in 20 years).

Either he has the worst people advising him or he has the smartest...hard to tell which. On one hand, they should know if he was going to cross a picket line, on the other, maybe they did and it was an attempt to show how "folksy" he is...ala Andy of Mayberry.

BOTH Leno and Conan blew chunks tonight,,,what was NBC thinking putting them on without writers?
I don't mind so much about Leno..he's a dick, but I hate seeing Conan's show crash and burn.
I don't even want to think what it will do to Bill Maher, Daily Show, and Colbert Report....yikes!

The Huckster will find out what crossing a picket line costs if he's still in the race & runs in areas where unions are strong.

The first two words of the headline are sufficient. For Huck, and for every other repub candidate. Along with their supporting trolls.

Not only Huckasluts credibility taking a nose-dive, The whore Leno will lose many, many viewers. Leno is no longer funny. Leno has lost what little respect I once offered him.

Apparently, Huck wants to be another Dubya. Remember, our beloved president appointed a career union buster as Sec'y of Labor.

Well, nothing like giving the Leno viewers a good look at the village idiot!

When asked by some reporter if leaving Iowa to appear on Leno was risky Huckabee replied, "More people will see me on Leno than if I stay in Iowa." Same reasoning he used when he "pulled" his negative response ad and showed the ad to a room filled with national reporters.

Why pay for TV time when the media will give it to him for free? Not as dumb as dirt as he seems.
